Been thinking this build for quite sometime. First I was eying on my table saw to fit a 10” sanding disk then I saw my very seldom use tool the lathe and it has a 6” head stock meaning I can fit a 12” sanding disk and it is also variable speed with the use of gears of course. I have MDF leftover on my RT build and its gathering molds so I might as well use it, I was saving it for another project but what the heck keysa amagin lang.
After searching the net for a very good design got one and print the picture but I really cant find the links now to post here, any ways here how I build it.
I already finished the base and the table top.

Now for the disk. I used the router with the circle cutting jig to made 2 perfect circle.

Then made a recess for the faceplate.

Its beginning to look a sanding disk now.

After applying high pressure laminate made a miter slot using the router.

After finishing and sealing the MDF, sanding disk is ready for action...:banana1:... I just need to buy 12x12 sand paper to stick to the disk.

Very nice contraption Chisel, you save yourself for buying another tool..
First I was eyeing on my table saw to fit a 10” sanding disk
I also been thinking this route but hesitant on the speed of the motor for a sanding disc. The RPM is too high.
Question: How are you going to attach the sandpaper to the wood/MDF?

Been lurking on this thread and impressed.
Would you used the adhesive on some velcro or direct to the sandpaper? Just curious about what you'd do when it comes time to replace the sandpaper.
