air compressor maintenance

its my first time to own an aircompressor. so how exactly do i take care of it? do i have to drain the air before i store it? how often do i change oil and air filter?

I changed the oil of my Vespa 1HP compressor after breakin period use totalling to about 24 hours.
I used Mobil SAE 30 oil.


As much as possible I drain the water after using the compressor.

thanks. i have a trade air 2hp unit w/ 40l tank. got it surplus so i guess i dont need to brake it in. so i should change my oil every total of 24 hrs of use?

the hard part of buying 2ndhand or surplus stuff is having no maintenance instructions. i hope this could be a do's and dont's guide for every one so experienced members, feel free to share what you know;)

If you got it surplus then it's still better that you change the oil.

My first oil change after 24 hours of total use was because I got mine new. It's been more than nine months now since I did that. The compressor gets about max 10 hours a week of usage.
