now that we have launched and growing well in terms of membership and forum activity, i think it is time to think of a term (of endearment?) to call ourselves, the members of pinoyhandyman.com.

personally, i think it should sound and feel pinoy na pinoy. Sort of like Tsikoteers for tsikot.com members, or PExers for Pinoyexchange members, etc.

please vote. if you have suggestions, just choose others and suggest by replying in this thread.

thank you!

How about JuanDIYs? Sort of a spin on the Juan Dela Cruz identity.

I suggest DYIters pronounced "dayeters"

Just noticed this ... how about "katikots"? Sorry nothing comes to mind that would warrant serious consideration.

Kulang pa rin mga tao dito. Dapat i-advertise pa ng tsikot ito ng husto para maka attract ng mga engineers, contractors, carpenters, laborers, masons, yaya, katulong, pulubi, baby. Hahaha

We call ourselves small business owners, entrepreneurs, handymen or simply SoHo (small office home office) professionals.

I have a listing of pinoy entrepreneurs here (http://pinoylist.net/s/). Feel free to create your account if you want to advertise your services.

I go for "Lagaristas".

Even though I have jig saw and circular saw, most of the time i still prefer to use my Lagare. The sound of a handsaw cutting the wood is music to my ears.

Some of us here are businessmen, employees, handymen, and hobbyist and the common thing is we all love to work on woods. Everytime we work on wood we use the two basic tools, saw (manual or electric) and hammer. Simply saying we love carpentry, we just dont like to be called "Karpinteros".

DIY is not very specific for this site coz' "DIY" covers many areas, i.e. my DIY filter for fish tank and my DIY pressurerized water rocket project for my sons.

we are woodworkers, not karpenteros which are basically similar but not the same and the most basic tools I use is a saw(whatever kind) a handplane and a drill(powered or otherwise). I don't like using nails very much though I use them occasionally. but this site is not about us as a woodworker, people here makes plumbing, electronics, metal working and woodworking and lots more. so DIYer has the edge as the base of how people here should be called.
if you ask me, I would rather be called by my name or at least by my username... and associated with pinoyhandyman.

"PinoyHandyMan Do-It-Yourself Community"...

this, in my opinion, is stil the best and most decent name in general.

I second Bobby. I am always proud to tell people that i belong to a community "pinoyhandyman!!!" ehhehe

Coz ppl usually go like.. Really? gumagawa ka niyan?..... They speak as if I am the only one who does it. If that were the case... this wouldve been a very lonely hobby :)

Ok guys, i'm convinced. Will go for "PinoyDIY" ;)

Soon I'll post some pics converting my seldom used circular saw into table saw. (that's a real DIY)

Maybe I missed something and wasn't able to read it, but has the group reached a decision?

I would go for the original "pinoyhandyman" which encompasses all the DIY tasks of a Pinoy handyman. :)

Then the mascot who can also be incorporated in the logo could be called "Handy-Juan", wearing a hardhat with the Philippine flag logo, and holding a tool or two. Since the group's name is "pinoyhandyman" which pertains to a person, the logo with the mascot "Handy-Juan" seems appropriate.

Just my two cents lang po. :)
