best and easiest way in cleaning 'mini' blinds

i don't know if this is the best forum to post this... paki lipat na lang po king out of place...

anyway, my townhouse has this vinyl blinds (mini) and they look great! but what looks great maybe a nightmare in cleaning and maintenance.



you see, we have no 'kasama' sa bahay and i and my wife do the cleaning. we live in a place in Sampaloc na medyo maalikabok. so i have this 'thankless job' of cleaning this mini blinds which i found out can be not only tedious but boring as well.

after cleaning them, after a few weeks, they have to be cleaned again... and again... and again... aaaggghhhhh!

can you share your tips in cleaning this 'mini' monsters? i tried those multiple brushes na parang 'kamay' na may cloths but no dice... parang walang effect.

any help, tips and advice will be highly appreciated.

otherwise, it will be back to the curtains, next time. at least pag curtains, you just remove them, either wash or send them to the laundry. :)

I don't really have an answer to your question becasue I too have the same problem before. But I did had a solution to it...I change my blind to curtains. ;D

I think blinds(vertical/horizontal) are good only for enclosed(airconditioned) areas only. :(

Static electricity is what attracts dust to plastic miniblinds. Can you use fabric softener in the washing water to cut down on static electricity? I think that fabric softeners work by removing static electricity from the clothes, allowing the fibers to separate, making towels etc. softer. They're also called anti cling. Haven't tried this as I do not have blinds.

I used to have mini blinds inside our bedroom before. I read about using fabric softener to wash mini blinds somewhere so I tried it 2-3 times before I took down the blinds. It works - to a point: some amount of dust would cling to the plastic mini blinds one week or so after washing.

That's a great idea bros. Hmmm...fabric softerner pala.
The bad thing about it is the never ending process of using it. Might as well use fabric softener to clean it then shut the windows down.

dunno how effective it is but I remember reading somewhere before that you could put horizontal blinds in a similar length tube, soap mixture, close the ends and shake?

I don't have mini blinds but what we have are "durawood blinds" na 2". Since most of the time, the blinds are in a semiclosed position (around 60 degree angle), the dust accumulates only on one side of the blind (not on the undersurface). What I do is close the blinds in the opposite direction (dirty side facing me), then use vacuum cleaner to clean the dirty side. No need to vacuum the other side since in my case, I notice that the other side is clean. It works for me, although I guess its easier to do sa durawood blinds since it's sturdier and doesnt bend easily. You may want to try this
