Here's some pics of a just finished project. A small altar table which fits in a niche hence the small size.
Basically made of plywood with hardwood edges.
Using a shopbuilt straight edge, cutting sheets of plywood is manageable with good results.

Plywood cut to size. Using a straightedge also helps prevent tearout in plywood when cutting crosscut

Assembly of the table. Since the project called for something close to 50mm thickness i used 3 layers of 3/4" ply sandwiched together. I just used strips of 3/4 ply in the middle as a whole piece would have been wastefull.
