  • What brand of Water Heater would you recommend?

We have Champs brand at home. After 7 years, both single and multi-point are now broken. Repairman says cannot be fixed because our water is hard and we should get a model that can accommodate such kind of water. Not sure if that's correct.

Would 7years be a good service life for a water heater? Which brand/model would you recommend?

Looks like we're on the same hunt. I need to buy and install one this coming week. However it would be a portable unit because it's for condo use.

I too have a Champ hot spa multi point water heater. they ran out of parts for it which is a common replacement (dang). Instead they are offering a Vector or Aerogas multi point with a 20%off the pricelist as a trade-in for the previous Hot Spa model.
was in Ace last weekend inquiring a replacement for my bathroom as well. and upon inquiring, the Vector or aerogas is ahead in features against whatelse they had in the store(cheaper too)...
I will order the replacement soon......... as soon as I have extra bucks.

click my signature and it will take you there........

Been using the JOven brand for a couple of years, seems ok and cheap.

Looks like Ja, Timber, and I are all in a replace-tryout mode. Mine have been broken a several months now but procrastination reaches its limit pag lumalamig na. I live in Antipolo (upland) pa naman.

Will take a look at that Vector or Aerogas.

Bigfoot, how long have you had the Joven?

Salesman also talks about two types: plastic or copper heating element. Plastic is cheaper to replace but takes longer to heat up. Copper is the other way around. Not sure if that bit of info is true.

Water hardness has got everything to do w/ it. Water w/ high levels of soluble chemicals that calcify during high temperatures reduces the cavity size of the copper or plastic pipes w/in the heart of the heater. This in turn overheats the element due to poor water volume and pressure needed to circulate and regulate heated water. If your heater does not have an overload trip switch it is expected to have a shorter life regardless of whether it is a copper or plastic element. I installed a dual stage pre-filter (polyspun fiber for soluble chemicals and sedimentary) to solve hard or brackish water issues. My heater is a FACO Italian made unit. I also have an AEG w/ an overload or reset switch to extend it's life. I've had mine since 1996 and still ok.

Thanks for the tip, V. SWMBO told me Panasonic is one of her choices, just don't know if it's the same one. Salesman says it has a plastic element. Not sure if that's true nor, if true, if that's good or bad. But, yes, I've had good experience with Panasonic quality on small appliances, e.g. fans.

                          @jay/ding,

yung sakin kasi 11 years na ginagamit sa main bathroom...ok pa din siya..during that time mas sikat yung champs but i rooted for the panasonic...multipoint..around 7.5K bili ko sa mchome depot din before nasunog yung store..sa magallanes pasong tamo.

extra expenses mo lang yung breaker and housing...plus some teflon tape i guess...better if you use stainless fittings

pls show the build for the benefit of the community.

will buy another din for my mom..her old heater broke 1 year ago...malamig na naman kasi...

                          goodluck!
