  • Pressure Washers Thread

I'm trying to repair and at the same time mod this flimsy assembled Pressure Washer. It has good power and worth spending some time to make it better.

To start off the base is wobbly thus making pulley alignments difficult to do.

When it's done I am planning to install Quick Disconnect Couplers for the hoses and connections.

Anybody know where I can get such couplers?

Those car wash style air pressure washes are as sturdy and as modifiable as it looks. Are those better than the Chiwanese compact ones that you also had?

Probably more durable but not any better. The Travino compact one I had has lasted 3 years now of DIY cleaning with one change oil in between. Maybe I'll change it's oil anytime now. Last time I used 3 in 1 oil for it.

Yes. You need to change oil to make the tool perform better and last longer.

I decided to rebuild the pump.

This is a very common pressure washer design. I'm posting some random pics of the rebuild for my notes as well as those who have this type of tool. Being able to see the inner mechanism gives a good idea of problems that might develop during normal wear and tear usage.

                      Re: Pressure Washers Thread

Here the rebuild is done. Mostly needed cleaning and replacing of a few O rings.

Motor is working fine. I'll just give it a new coat of paint.

This is the main weakness of this pressure washer assembly. A very flimsy base. Will have to think of a way to beef it up. Any suggestions welding boys? See the belt tightening mechanism. Only one screw in the center. Adding 2 more at the sides might make alignment and tightening better.

                        Re: Pressure Washers Thread

i was thinking of using sort of an tensioner bearing somewhee in the center. in that way the mounting for the bases of the pump and the motor would be stable, sort of fixed. the only thing that one will have to move is the tensioner bearing.

as for the design of the bearing mounting, a good one, but a bit tricky is to use a similar concept with that of a mitsubishi lancer 4g1x 4g9x alternator/wp tension - it uses a long bolt to hold the tension intead of having it held by a tight bolt (friction).

this is a interesting rebuild you got here. where did you get the replaceables (non-reusable parts)? seals, rings being those

                          hi,

just bringing up an old thread on pressure washers. i'm planning on buying this kind of pressure washer (belt driven) instead of the branded ones like karcher, b&d, etc... - sort of a xmas present for myself.

the motor is 1.5 hp. given this, it has to run on a separated line from the main with its own breaker. i took a peek on my housing and i don't have any spare breakers anymore (pity).

suggestions? (besides tearing up apart everything and getting a bigger housing)

                            Re: Pressure Washers Thread

I'm running a 3 HP Air Compressor using household electrical lines rated 20A ( compressor draws 15A max ) . None the less I don't plug anything else on that particular wiring run.

Tip : If applicable MOD the belt tension. If the belt is tensioned properly or in my case a bit tighter then the water pressure will be very strong. I just don't know the exact effect on pump's longevity. However in my case I'm more concerned about higher water pressure. So far my pump has been holding out well naman.

                              ok, this seems reasonable.

any idea on what's the current pricing on the market nowadays? sulit price ranges from 5k-5,5k. wondering it could be lower if "non online ads."

are there fake pumps motors of this sort? - just keeping an eye of what to watch out for...
