Bro, what's the reason why the guard has to be movable? Is this a safety consideration or more of convinience in adapting its position?

Reason why I ask is because ever since I started angle grinding, I always have the guards tightly - that is not movable. Yes it's a hassle when I need to reposition it, but then I already got used to loosening/tightening the screw when needed.

      @spyghost,

Bro its more of a convenience for me so I can easily and immediately re-position the guard when it is needed. The guard is tight enough that it doesn't move by itself during operation but can be rotated by my hands during application after pausing for a while.

Really it is a hassle for me that I have to get a screw driver or small wrench to just adjust or rotate the guards' position when grinding or cutting metals. It make metal working faster for me but if you are used to your ways, then that is just fine and no problem with that. For me its just a way of fluidity of movement to make grinding or cutting a bit faster minus the hassle and yet safety in use have not been sacrificed.

Hi All, ano ang feedback ninyo sa paggamit na cutting disc na manipis, 4" dia x 3 mm thickness yata iyon. Kasi nakakatakot parang mababali! Ano ang tamang use?

When using the cutting disc, make sure you position it such that the sparks are flying to you (not away from you). Just wear protective clothing. In this position the angle grinder is pulling away from you, which helps in keeping it aligned with the cut.

Imagine a vehicle pulling a trailer. When the vehicle is moving forward, the trailer follows the path of the vehicle. When the vehicle moves backward, the trailer moves to the side. The grinder is the vehicle and you are the trailer.

If you do it the other way, the grinder (and cutting disc) will move sideways and bind into your cut. Boom!

Just to be clear. That picture illustrates HOW NOT TO DO IT.
If correctly done, the handle and the guard will be on the other side.

And ALWAYS use a fiber-reinforced cutting disc. Discs without fiber reinforcement have a tendency to shatter into lethal shrapnels.

Thanks Joey81 for the input. I experienced already the disc shattered. Gamit ko pa ay tylorit cutting disc 4" but makapal siya- butas ang maong pants ko!. Face shield gamit ko kapag nag-cutting ako. Mahirap kapag safety eyeglass lang.

When cutting steel using the very thin cutting disc, never force the disc on the cutting material, hold the
grinder firmly and as straight as possible. Let the grinder and disc do the cutting using its own weight
moving it slowly forward and backwards. Makikita mo naman kung kumakagat na ang tip ng disc, sparks
starts flying towards your direction plus avoid removing the angle grinder guard when using this thin disc.

I use different brands of cutting disc, DeWalt, Bosch, Tatara, Lotus and have not experience disc shattering.
I avoid the Tyrolit because its too expensive.

And yes for the face shield to protect the whole of your face against metal dust and disc shattering.

                Stay safe !
