Welcome to the PHM forum George.

You can probably start by browsing and reading some threads here that would be in line with what you want to do. Better yet open your own threads and start asking more detailed questions. I'm sure members would reply.

Would you want to start with wood or metal or do both at the same time?

    Enjoy your stay here bro.

i personally recommend an oscillating multi tool.. lalo nat branded like dewalt or makita... it has so many uses, like a dremel multi tool... but ofcourse, basics are circular saw, drill/driver, or a jigsaw
