I used steel deck for my house, too, but not DIY. 180sqm for 2nd and 3rd floor, from APO steel. Saved us a lot of time and timber. Could have saved a lot more if I knew about this technique back then.

The only downside is it blocks radio frequency signals. One of the rooms in the first floor does not have any signal from any mobile carrier! And wifi coverage is flaky, too.

joey, thanks for the info. this is something (radio frequency) i need to check once the house is completed. my plan is to test and showcase my own home automation system using my house and WiFi is the major communication link of the system ... cheers

You should consider laying down CAT5 ethernet cabling if you still can. That way you'll have a backup just in case Wifi doesn't work. If its no longer possible, powerline ethernet can be used as a data bridge across floors.

cat 5 ethernet cable is already included in the design of the house and my home automation system will also use power line communication (PLC) if possible but most of the sensors will be wireless which is why i was concerned with your info that steel deck has a negative impact to radio frequency and WiFi. I'll update everyone of what happens moving forward ... cheers

Boo!
