Hi Guys,
I am new here in this forum. 🙂
I would like to ask if any of you guys can give an alternative to this kind of wood.

I am using it for a UAV build and would like to use something locally available but same quality.
Thanks,
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
Hi Don,
I hope you can find something you can use, maybe someone else knows of a supplier. Personally, I don't think your going to find anything close to it here. I've been looking for marine plywood for 4 yrs now. It just does not exist here. All the plywood available that they call marine is extremely sub standard, it just disintegrates in water, or rots away so fast, you can almost see it leaving, ha ha. As far as I know, if you can have someone ship some from the states to you, thats the only way, but be very wary of who does the shipping, had some terrible experiences there also.
Best of luck, Joe
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
At that point, it would be cheaper to go with GRP/FRP.
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
I am building a 22-foot sailboat and, for the bulkheads and mostly everything topside, I use Tuffply.
Tuffply may be what you need. It's good quality marine plywood not readily available in mainstream hardwares and is favored by the local boatbuilding community. Try searching for Tuffply in this forum.
If you're stumped, post again and I'll try to help.
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
Thanks for the inputs guys. @horge whats GRP and FRP?
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
Glass-fiber Reinforced Polymer / Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer aka Fiberglass.
Are you modding a kit or building from scratch?
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
I am building from scratch. I will use it along with EPP foam. Fiber glass is quite costly for my application. I had worked on it before and I bought a 2x4 (if I remember it correctly) and it cost me 3500.
Also guys do you know of a supplier who has wood round dowels? 8mm
Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
DonCap, by any chance, are you also an rc enthusiast?

Re: Aircraft Grade Plywood alternative
Have you tried using VERSABOARD? It's been used on yachts and interiors of airplanes, I believe. It's a PVC board, but is cut like tough wood, rigid and waterproof. Starts at 1.5mm to 18mm.
