hi! has anybody heard of analok windows? are they the same as powder coated windows? i've done some initial research and analok is cheaper compared to powder coated. also, analok seems to only come in dark brown color? durability-wise, it seems to be less durable than powder coated. any insights? 🙂 thanks!

Hey Uber!
You get more color choices with powder coated windows. It's a little bit more expensive, and the finish is
more prone to flaking. The aluminum is soaked in a chemical before it is powder coated, then baked to help the cost adhere to the aluminum.

Analok on the other hand comes mostly in the color brown. Supposedly you can also find it in champagne, satin and black, depending on where you buy it. The finish lasts a little longer due to the electric bonding process used to adhere the color to the product. It is although prone to scratches.

So I guess it really comes down to personal preference and how much money you're planning to part with.

I hope I helped a little. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Uber. I've known people who had both powder coated and Analok, and they were happy with both. Like I mentioned, I think it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend and the color choices you make. If you're satisfied with the colors, or the lack there of that Analok provides, then go for it, but if you are in need of a particular color to match your motif (hahahaha! I actually used motif), then go with the powder coat. I don't think durability is an issue because they are both durable. Just my 2 cents again. That's 4 cents now Uber! LOL!

Hey Uber. PVDF windows are good. Yes, they are similar to powder coated windows. The aluminum window is coated with a polyvinylidene diflouride coating. Which is highly resistant to solvents and acids. It is also resistant to heat. I believe it has either three or four coats on them. You can expect to pay double or even triple of what you'd pay for your standard powder coated windows.
