Theres many brands being sold in the market here all of them are ok but in terms of thickness that's where the problem is..

Mostly we buy GI gauge #26 if you say that on a hardware store they will say yes we have it.. but do you know gauge 26 is 0.4mm?

same goes with flat sheets like "liso" 3x8 or 4x8

they will give you this thickness if you dont ask how thick they are
0.19<---- this is what many hdwe will give you if ur not knowledgable
0.20
0.21
0.22
0.30
0.35<--- tolerable

for me i stock my sheets with 0.42mm because tolerance would only yield me 0.4 maybe less..

For long span roofing it is very much standard when you order Ga 26 or Ga 24. The undersizings always happens with commercial corrugated GI sheets. That is why if you are to use corr. GI sheets better stick with Ga 24 only. Using Ga 26 is a waste IMHO.

Sir rogin24 stick with gauge 24 in the long run maintenance wont be a problem i heard though from a customer before since i deal with construction supply that for long span once nasira isa palit yang buong span.. in strong typhoon gauge 26 can be ripped of easily..(pretty much reputable colored roof brand are standard but quite expensive.

the good thing bout colored is that's its rust treated.. im using it with my warehouse though rust is starting to build up in the textscrew area since its already 20 years old roof.

Are we following the gauges in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheet_metal_gauge or does Philippines have its own definitions?

For example, according to above table in Wikipedia, gauge 26 is 0.0179" (0.4547 mm) for non-galvanized steel and 0.0217" (0.5512 mm) for galvanized steel.

According to table, gauge 24 should be 0.0239" (0.6071 mm) for non-galvanized and 0.0276" (0.7010 mm) for galvanized. But I understand it is just 0.5 mm?

Sir Guad meron inimpose ang DTI na guidelines for Steel sheets thickness but apparently pababaan ng presyo sa pinas at dayaan

what you see in the sheets are computerized marking of supplier thickness size etc on the sheets... but on actual they lessen it ex.
Gauge 24 should be 0.6 pag sinukat mo lalabas na 0.55 or 0.5

Gauge 24 range from 0.41-.60mm sa atin if your gonna buy one ask what thickness in mm if you dont ask maloloko ka lang sa size kasi meron undersize at may standard or baka gauge 26 na bigay sayo.

parang gauge 18 (1.2-1.1mm) yan pero may nagbebenta 1.1 at 1.0
1.0? gauge 20 yun diba? pero pinapasa na gauge 18 na undersize

Re: Be aware of GI Corrigated ROOF sold here

e though rust is starting to build up in the textscrew area since its already 20 years old roof.

Because the color coat and zinc coating are destroyed when they drill through it.
You should have the roof measured before installation, the sheet should be drilled before putting up and the holes should be painted with the suppliers touch up paint and smeared with zinc grease.

If they are good installers, they will only use the tek screws to anchor the roofing onto the underlying structure.

There is common practise here amongst installers, it does not mean that it is actually correct. Lots of them have gotten sloppy and because the customer is not supervising or knowledgeable - they get away with cutting corners.

Cut corners never ends in a professional result. Don't kid yourselves that you can buy cheap and expect it will last long.
