any body know what is the difference between a pvc pipe for water and a pvc pipe for electric lines? do they differ in pressure rating, flexibility, or is it just for color coding the pipes?

im also wondering why there are no T-fittings for the orange pvc pipes? the reason im asking is that im planning to tap power from an existing power line to power my garage/workshop. it runs on the ground so i need it to be water tight.

Re: blue and orange pvc difference?

PVC Pipe (Blue) is for potable water
PVC Pipe (Orange) is for electrical & Sanitary/Sewer

Walang available Tee sa mga electrical pipes usually pull box, square box, junction box, utility box at long elbow ang ginagamit. Kung naka embed sa ground yun pipes elbows ang gamitin mo then use pvc cement sa mga connections para watertight. Kung kailangan mo ibend yun pipe at certain degree/angle use a heat gun or flame to heat the pipe para lumambot then bend mo lang dahan-dahan.

Re: blue and orange pvc difference?

They have different material composition, the blue can handle more pressure and for sanitary purposes.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

wow that was fast. thanks bryant77.
you think it would be ok to use blue T-fitting instead of an orange elbow? yung existing power line kasi may iba pang pinupuntahan it powers the decorative light that we barely use near our gate so it has to be a T-fitting unless putulin ko na lang totally yung line going to the decorative light, para solo ko na yung linya hehehe:punk:

On the other hand, the orange ones are non-flammable for safety reasons.

The orange ones have 90 degree elbows connectors available.

Re: blue and orange pvc difference?

PVC TEE & fittings (Blue) is not advisable for electrical use. Maliit lang kse yun raduis nya. Mahihirapan ka lang mag pull ng wire. Use PVC Pipe (conduit) & fittings intended for electrical. Pwede mo putulin yun power line sa decorative light then use a junction box or square box, tapos doon ka na rin mag splice for the line goin to your garage workshop. May available naman cover for junction box or square box pwede mo naman lagyan ng silicon sealant yun cover para water tight.

Be sure na tama yun size ng existing and new wire base sa electrical load ng workshop mo.

Re: blue and orange pvc difference?

oh so thats the difference, its non flammable. junction box it is then:thanks:

i haven't given the electrical load a thought yet, wala pa kasing budget for a proper wiring as making a new line with thicker wires and new pvc cover would be expensive, malayo kasi yung garage/workshop sa main kuntador. the line going in will be primarily used for lighting of the garage, although ive tried using a 2.5hp compressor, a grinder and a mig welder with that line, so far so good. but i know i would have to upgrade to the appropriate wires.
