I'm looking for info about cement products used in the PI for outside coating of CHB walls. Here in the states we call it stucco but I haven't seen it called that in the PI. We are building a house for my in-laws and my mother-in-law wants it to be light pink! Some people here in the SW part of the US like to use a rose colored stucco, so I imagine that's what she wants. They are in Gingoog City which is near Butuan and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao. They can't find anything in town so we're trying to find it somewhere nearby but I don't even know what to ask for when we call the building supply places. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, info on pricing and coverage would be great. ;D
Re: Colored cement/stucco for outside of CHB wall?
OK, I got a little more info. It seems that in that area, it's more common to just "smooth" the outside of CHB walls by applying a layer of sanded cement to the wall. Then they just paint it whatever color they want. That makes sense. I suspect that pozzolan would be OK for that, mixed maybe 1:3 or 1:4 with sand.
Re: Colored cement/stucco for outside of CHB wall?
Sir we have here in the Philippines a stucco plaster. Its brand is Merlex. It comes in different colors and is applied just like the ordinary cement plaster.
The cost is comparable with the plastering plus the painting less the labor.

Is there significant difference among paints (and between paint and stucco) as far as how long they will keep their original appearance in the heavily polluted air of Metro Manila?
Which is the paint brand/type (if any) that will best resist discoloration in a polluted environment?
