Re: Hardiflex vs Marine plywood for ceilings

I am using metal furring with marine ply (the very thin one). After a few months, I have been hearing cracking and snapping sound at anytime of the day. When I examine the ceiling, wala naman unusual. On mid afternoon, I can feel the heat wave inside but I think ok naman ang ventilation. Sa mga western sites, sabi nila, metal expanding and contracting due to temperature change pero sa tingin ko naman, hindi naman extreme ang temperature sa ceiling. I even have a circular attic vent. I can not see where it is. Can anyone give me idea? I see very small cracks now between panels of plywood in my ceiling but they are very small that you really have to stare to notice but again, natatakot ako kasi baka sign na yun. Help

yes mikaztro and boybi. i think kht mariine plywood or any material basta ang problema ay tulo, masisira po talaga. i think para maiwasan ang tulo dapat may good water proofing ang deck slab or ang galvanize roofing material para maiwasan ang tulo

The asbestos version of Hardiflex ceased to be produced back in 1981.

But the same cannot be said of immitations.

hardiflex fiber cement products lahat yan, brittle siya unlike marine plywood, the problem as far as i know is mas mabigat ang marine since makakapal sila unlike sa ficem ng hardiflex na 1/4 yung pinakamanipis sa market, hardiflex pang exterior talaga yan alam ko, then gypsum current trend sa mga interior ngayon the problem is mahina yung tolerance sa mga leaks.

Newbie here.
How do you fasten hf to metal furrings? Screws, nails, some say rivets? Can hardinails enough to secure to metal furrings?
By d way, I used hf in ceilings under GI roofs in my house with wooden studs. I noticed the area is quire hot day and night w/c means it is not a good matl for temp. Insulation.
Thanks n regards to all!

Hello,

It depends of which area you are using poly-carbonate materials, Poly-carbonate materials is not advisable for interior ceiling of houses and offices. Offices are commonly uses Armstrong ceiling or gypsum board ceiling
