Re: Iroko hardwood or african teak

Epoxy can be made structural by adding fillers. I use wood flour (made from sanding, not sawing). I also use a product called stopsag (which can be bought at Polymer Products, cheap!) so that my putty does not drip or flow. Hardest part, though is matching the color of your filler with the wood. I usually blend stopsag (which is a white powder), with wood flour to achieve the proper color. Still, it takes a lot of experiment and patience because the color of the putty is different from when it's wet and whenit's dry. Then, when you apply a clear finish, like varnish, the wood darkens but the epoxy filling does not!

@willy
does the epoxy you use also give strength? could it be used to restore bukbok damaged wood by filling up even internal spaces?

Yes, the epoxy i have can be used for gap and hole fillers. It has excellent strength and filling properties w/c can be mixed with other materials such as sawdust etc. We have PU color stains that are formulated for resin based finishing products as well.

We have a wide range of products for the wood and finishing industry including elastomeric paints and sealers but they are mostly considered for industrial use. We rarely go commercial 'coz we have institutional projects that take most of our time so i never got to advertise nor come up w/ brochures to introduce them to the growing market. I do appreciate opportunities like our EB's to introduce and familiarize friends w/ these products. Do keep on the list of experiments and i will try my best to support your success w/ these projects.:fly::attack:

Tnx Bro Rosy,

Marami tayong magagawa for our SWMBOs as well as our own projects. We have Solid wood, Engineered lumber, Natural & engineered veneers plus a wide range of finishing & weather proof coatings. Keep those projects pouring so i can develop more ideas in terms of construction, industrial and commercial applications. As it is now we are able to compete w/ the likes of Sadolin, Bona, Czar and other familiar brands in the market. What differentiates us is the warranty we give and the fact that we are a local company they can work with issues and solutions. We are also an OEM manufacturer for TABOO, FORMICA and other International brands in terms veneer and wooden products. We opted to supply quietly in our local market so you don't have to deal w/ royalties and brand costs. Our products are actually at par if not the same w/ those that are well accepted in the international market.

Re: Iroko hardwood or african teak

This one is an original design of mine. They wanted a cobble stone pattern but i sampled an annular ring pattern of a tree trunk cut crosswise. The result is a 160 square meter spread of a giant tree trunk core. Some say it looks like a base of a space ship. What do you think?:chop::vader: By the way, this is a ceiling treatment for a garage entrance of a house in one of my projects. Each line or ring represents a 4mm x 22 mm wood strip laminated together in a ring pattern using epoxy adhesive and will be sealed and topped w/ Polyurethane.

PORTE COCHERE TREATMENT

I had a chance to see this in actual. This is a "work of art".

Re: Iroko hardwood or african teak

Very nice projects, what awed me is the quality of work and designs secondary na lang ang wood.

Will Iroko be a good material for jewelry boxes? I want to repeat [COLOR="SeaGreen"]these boxes I crafted two years ago made of narra as gifts for this coming yearend holidays.
