anyone know any supplier or manufacturer who sells light gauge steel studs in the metro? im looking for 20 gauge, not like the ones they sell in ace hardware which is only 25 gauge.

i already inquired directly to jeasteel sales office but i still want to have an option price wise. baka naman may mas murang option.

btw pano ko ba malalaman kung anong gauge ang sheet metal? what tool do i use. meron kasi mga thickness gauge online pero hanggang 0mm lang ang pinaka maliit na kaya niyang sukatin.

Re: light gauge steel studs, tracks etc.

I'm thinking a vernier caliper would really help you. An 8" stainless steel one costs less than 1K. Resolution is usually .05mm. Everytime i go to a bearing center it's what they use to check sizes. Verniers are robust.

Can't recommend going digital. Good digitals costs more than 5K retail (Mitu's.) I haven't dropped cheap ones, periodically wipe it clean with a dry rag and yet cheap digitals go bad, (not to mention they have bad repeatability.) It really is a known issue http://woodgears.ca/caliper/index.html

(Lower 2 ones are my daily users.)

Re: light gauge steel studs, tracks etc.

You can use micrometer or vernier caliper to measure the thickness. Gauge 20 is 1.0mm.
Gauge 22 = 0.8mm
Gauge 24 = 0.6mm
Gauge 25 = 0.5mm

I think meron silang sliting plant here.

nagtataka din ako sa pricelist from jeasteel, galing ito sa sales office talaga nila. ang range ng mga studs nila eh mas mahal kesa sa mga studs sa ACE hardware. nakaka lito tuloy, say ang 25 gauge sa jea nasa P166 pero sa ACE nasa P104 lang of the same brand. thats why im looking for other manufacturers.

If you are quite sure the item is exactly the same, specially kung mabilis nagtataasan mga prices sa regular outlets, you can be sure that old prices still prevails with mall outlets, atleast until their next delivery arrives.

I have personally taken advantage of these situations before when steel prices skyrocketed a few years back. Both handyman and ace hardwares were selling at old prices while supply lasts.

Its very possible that slow moving items still retain their old prices.

HTH. 😉

Are these the same gauge definitions as in roofing?

Hey that's nice o know, you've got shorter lengths.
Bought a bunch from Handy in Robinson's FairView last year, all in 5 metre lengths, had to bring them home after 10 pm bec I tied it down to the car roof rack.

Your site pictures are great, also gave me a lot of ideas for future projects.

I pass by Fairview 6 days a week. Hope to drop by your place very soon. Hope to to get your pm too. thanks 😉

Re: light gauge steel studs, tracks etc.

you have to tell me what you need for your project. most of the studs and tracks i have here are 3mm x 76mm x 3m, thickness 0.60. i usually use it to install divisions in offices and interior use.

if you will be using it to frame your garage the best section to use is 35mm x 92mm x 3m, thickness is 0.80mm

yung 5mtr items that Ace or wilcon sell are called Furrings, they dont make studs in 5m lenght cause by specs you have to have a bridge every 3m, so useless to have it fabricated at 5m lenght. closest material to the studs that you can mistake for it being 5m are G.I. Purlins 2x4, but i doubt if Ace would carry that.

actually i need studs and tracks for framing so 0.80 to 1mm is probably what i need.

are the 35mm x 92mm x 3m, 0.80mm studs what your using in the house you built in your website? if thats the case then thats even better, mas mura yon:p all this time ive been canvasing 35x102x3 1mm, kaya super mahal studs pa lang.
