Re: Low cost paints and other paint questions
What was not emphasized about Elastomeric as well as other paints is the importance of a primer coat or sealer. Paints need Primers or sealers so that the topcoat will have a layer of strong film they can adhere to. This will make the film hold stronger and allow it to do the work it was designed for; ex. waterproofing, weather seal and aesthetic coat. Most Elastomeric paints here in the Philippines don't have Sealers. This is why they fail to do their job. In the industrial world of waterproofing you will be surprised that most Elastomeric formulas have these primers. I just don't know why they think that w/ vertical applications they can do w/o them. Another good roof deck paint you can use is marine grade epoxy paint. Designed for harsh conditions even for acidic environment. My two cents..... Good luck.
