yesterday it was decided to finally fell my 25 year old "narrang puti"...i planted this way back in high school...at 25 years it seemed pale and dwarf by comparison to those grown in the wild.
this narra variety sheds ALL its leaves starting in September and will continue till early November. By December it will be like a dead tree...leaves will sprout back by the end of February to be fully leafed "living" tree in the summer heat of March.
but due to the need...a dream gazebo will be built in its place.
the Stihl chainsaw proved its might.
i never had the glimpse of the massacre.
at 3pm, the wailing sound of the brute machine finally stopped.

we harvested at least 8 pieces of good lumber..stickered and painted the ends with enamel..in a years time..hoping i am still around by then..the wood will be ready and hoping i can make a piece of fine furniture out of it.

the domestic maya birds will surely miss it.

Way to go man. Just think of it as transformation.

Maybe now is a good chance to get a moisture meter.

oo nga Jay, bawas ka na ng yosi ... 😀

why not source a place to have them kiln dried Doc, usually takes 24 days only, at least you can start on them early. some project takes several years to finish, esp the ones for ourselves... 😀

ah yes i forgot about a local shop with a kiln drier facility..i dont know if they can accommodate my stash.masusungit pa naman mga tao dun.hay

much of the wood is sapwood (white) and about a third will make up the heartwood which is red brown..will observe the color change from time to time and hopefully i can document it faithfully with a camera.

Merry Christmas Bros.

Yes this Yosi problem. I'm alarmed that even you guys noticed that my consumption is up. Need to do something about it now.

Thanks a lot.

Re: my 25 year old narra tree

it is the stress of everyday living that makes us consume more of those yosi, i guess, it is better to have a shot or two of alcohol, than to consume a pack of cigarette. maybe exercise will reduce it's consumption...maybe... MERRY CHRISTMAS doc V !!! cheers jayL.;)
