I will be finishing a wooden kitchen countertop, recommended finish is Tung Oil or Sadolin Worktop Oil.

Anybody knows where I can source either of these locally?

Thanks.

It's been awhile since I looked at those particular shelves, but you can try calling
up TrueValue at Shangrila on Shaw/EDSA.

Those oils might not be ideal for kitchen, especially with food around.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Tung oil is available from a dealer somewhere in Muntinlupa.

Search for "eblue" in this forum and it will give you the tung oil thread. Somewhere in there is the contact details of eBlue.

I've recently been to Starbucks and they have wooden countertops/tables that are made from recycled/reclaimed wood. The finish is so smooth - is that varnish or the oil mentioned in this thread? If they are using oil to keep it shiny - how do you apply it/prep the surface? thanks! 🙂

There is a tendency for oil to move from the inner core of the wood's tissue towards the skin or outer layer when temperature rises. This capillary action takes place very often in our climate especially in the summer months. Grimy residue often builds on the worktop specially when the oil coated surface is exposed to water. What they do is apply a coat of Bees Wax to preserve your oil finish and the wood.
