Good idea Joey. It was a few years ago and I've not been there since but you might try HMR along Pioneer street in Mandaluyong. Another way is to buy a sheet of Formica and glue it on yourself. HMR also used to have these. I bought two and exactly for the same purpose on my homebuilt router table. Watch out though Formica has sharp edges when it is broken.

Bro most large hardware stores have Formica. If you want something special try the Yellow pages.

Re: Where to buy Laminated Plywood

Maybe not Laminated plywood but laminated fiberboard (composite?) might be available.

When I was looking for kitchen cabinets for my condo, (Calif. Gardens on Libertad St. Mandaluyong City), I saw them displayed in MegaMall, called San Luis or San something, and they cost an arm an a leg.

Then, someone who knew I was fixing up my condo unit, who probably was the local condo contractor there approached me and gave me a quote, and it was reasonable so I did got him to do it. Good job it was and I asked him for some discarded cut pieces and he readily gave them to me.

He told me that he used to work in one of those kitchen cabinet making companies, found a source for the wood, special hardware etc., and started his own contracting business.

He said that you'd have to order these composite laminates (locally) in bulk and they are quite pricey. They don't come in 1/4 " thickness I don't think, so your talking about 3/4 and up.

And cutting them 'clean' w/o chipping the formica type laminate is very very difficult, you'd have to use a special high speed electric saw with the finest/smallest teeth, and then you hope for the best !!!

Good luck looking for them, I'd look for some big industrial supplier of some sort. Check out the Kitchen cabinets and equipment - household portion in the Yellow pages.

Cheers.

Re: Where to buy Laminated Plywood

they cost Php1,700.00 per sheet, 18mm Eucalyptus core 13ply and 12mm at Php 1,400.00 9 ply is I'm not mistaken. I would also be needing one or two but they don't deliver for free unless you reach 15K. so let me know if you are buying. Will go along probably...

Please post their contact information. This might be good for boat building. For boat building, we need plywood with as many plies as possible and with absolutely no voids. We just found a supplier that has 5 ply 5mm plywood, maybe your supplier does too.

Re: Where to buy Laminated Plywood

I asked because those prices are actually not bad. I'm not really sure what regular 5mm plywood costs now but the 3 ply 5mm boatbuilding plywood we often use costs P400, while the 5 mmm 5 ply will cost P500. These are guaranteed to have no voids.

So is that a sample you have in the picture? If not, and you cut it from a whole sheet, I am wondering if you found any voids.

Re: Where to buy Laminated Plywood

Just saw some laminated MDF board at Home Depot in the Ortigas area. 18mm thick 4'x8'
costing just under 2 grand each.

Re: Where to buy Laminated Plywood

Double sided laminated boards are most used in urinal dividers, such as what you find in hotels or malls. Some are MDF that will need router work for the edging bands. Some just need to be sanded after cutting.

Bosch Phils. is also selling jigsaw blades specifically for them, with 2 different set of teeth (on the same side of the blade; 1 for top laminate, 1 for bottom). I saw their flyers at Handyman but they didn't have any in stock at the time.

Sorry. I don't have contact numbers or prices. 🙁 I'm still looking for a convenient supplier nearby, as well.
