Good day mga sir.

@ swordsman, brings back memories of my first DIY project, i also made a bird house (i think it was about 2m x 2m x 1.5m high) for my racing pigeons way back in the late 70's when i was in college. in those days, not much choices in terms of materials. for the frame i just use 2"x2" lumber. the lower part was enclose using ordinary chicken wire and the upper part was enclose with 1/4" x 6" palo tsina boards that i bought at the north harbor. i also use the same boards for the 3 layer nest shelf partition using clay pots as the pigeon's nest. the bird house is at ground level for easy access to my racing pigeons.

if i were to build another one now, below is how i'm going to do it ... all of the materials should be available in any hardware depot ...
- the pigeon house will be 1m above the ground for easy cleaning of the bird pooh under the house and also make the pigeon's entrance higher than a normal person, at least 7 feet above ground. i won't recommend using a steel pole as access to it will be very limited.
- for the floor frame and the post/ladder of the house, i'll use a 2" x 3" coco lumber. the whole floor will be covered with 1/2" wire mesh.
- for the wall frames and the roof frames, i'll use metal studs and railings for easy installation and just use blind rivets to assemble (sheet metal scissor for cutting) everything - metal studs and railings should be 24" apart from the center. the height of the wall should be 4 feet (width of a standard board) + height of open wall (covered with 1/2" wire mesh).
- once all the wall and roof frames has been installed, paint it with metal primer (for protection against rust) before installing the 1/4" ficem board and the roofing material.
- install the 1/4" fiber cement board for the walls and for the roof you can decide what to use.
- paint the outside of the walls and the roof to protect it from the weather.
- for the shelf and the partitions (nesting area), you can also use the 1/4" ficem board with metal railings, the width should be large enough to accommodate your clay pots ... cheers

Boo!
