=). Same modus operandi. Bought some chopping boards at Divisioria years back and made the crappiest stool (good for when doing laundry.)
Most chopping boards and laundry palo-palo are sampaloc or gmelina. Got a tray that's made of a calantas (supposedly, the "calantas" a luthier/mentor got from cebu was different too) and it's richer in color, but as light as sampaloc. They say toona calantas has a strong fragrance... hmm i'll rasp and smell it when i get back to my hometown.
Is this the same thread that someone asked about laong laan? It's a minute away from UST, and in the vicinity of the train tracks. Awful prices at 250 per b.f. and well undersized... i never went there again. Such a shame cause they have a lot of stock... sampaloc do have a high concentration of old houses.

Are you familiar with the wood " malarojas"? Mas maganda pa raw yan sa tangile according to one of the supplier. I cannot find ipil wood supplier in bulk. So im thinking of malarojas instead. What other kind of woods would you recommend for flooring and furniture business? Thanks for the help.

Local bamboo is supposed to be environmentally in nowadays, if you are adventurous and up to the learning challenge. There's a P10 billion 'requirement' just for school desks, according to this.
