Looks like a metal one made of pipes for posts will be more robust .

Any particular reason why you want it to be made of wood?

When I hear "wooden swing" this is what comes to my mind:

The design looks pretty straight forward. The tricky part would be the finishing. If its going to be used outdoors then the finish must be UV resistant and also water proof.

Bro, you did not specify what type or kind of swing you had in mind or wanted for your next project, whether swings for kids or the garden type/porch swings but nevertheless the link I posted on my first reply, well they are still all swings. :p :rolleyes:

Come to think of it, these swings could be a very very nice project for us DIYers, it can be all in wood or combination of metal and wood. Very interesting and looks very promising indeed.

A pieceof plank, say 1.5x 8x 16 inches, two pieces of heavy rope and a place to hang it and you have a swing....

My swing. Got this from HMR intended as a regular sofa but came along the grand daughter which need to be swinged. To lessen the noise and friction of metal in contact I put 2 used wheel bearing from my motorcycle and mounted inside a long eyebolt, luckily it fit inside perfectly.

@vrcinfo, that is really mcgyver fix and using the "motor chain or rayos" between the "kadena" and the carabiner makes it more interesting.. heheh

Thanks Bro, those HD bike drivechains are really tough. You got to have one of those special tools to unlink/link them.

You can always weld the support brackets now that the metalworking department is already functional. hehehhe

I thought of that Bro JayL but the Commander-in-Chief insisted it not be cut. She said we might get fed-up and have it removed in a short span of time. Then have it hanged again, and vice-versa.
