Re: CMS table and fence extension
Making rabbets and dadoes on the sliding fence
Test fit
Miter cut on the fence. This enables the fence to maintain a zero clearance against the blade in any angle

Its the fence closing in on the blade in the 45 deg cut. With a fixed fence, the blade cutting on the left and right side 45 angle creates wide open due to the rotating table pivot center is located behind the fence.
Here's a picture with out the blade. I have not fixed the table yet, so the registering cut are not made. Instead using the combination square as a guide...
45 miter on the left...
45 miter on the right side...
As you can see the fence adjusts and closes the gap to the blade creating a zero clearance that minimizes tear out when cutting wood...
Re: CMS table and fence extension
from my experience, plywood fences wouldnt last long and you need to make a lot of them..
imho, fence plus a dedicated sharp miter saw blade i.e., greater than 60 tooth count can minimise tearout at the back.
the good thing is...its not always that bothersome to have tearouts at the back since it is almost always hidden.
what we need is a crisp outside corners.

Yes Sir V, The fence does get chewed up really quick, thats why I just screwed on the table and the fence can be easily slide of for easy replacement.
Btw, I have an upcoming 22 units of aluminum standee bound for Boracay. Im planning to install a Bosch 60t Multi-material blade for cutting aluminum frames. Will the blade also cut clean on wood? Or do i have to change blades when cutting wood?
Re: CMS table and fence extension
having the bosch multicut blade saves you from the hassle of changing blades..i bought one before and i was satisfied be it on wood or extruded aluminium..but traded off the blade when the blade i requested from a friend arrived..
btw, the bore of the multicut bosch blade is 30mm and even though the package contains some adapters, it didnt fit my ms..a machine shop nearby made one for me..
the bosch multicut blade is cheap at 1.2K versus the metabo multicut blade for 4.5K!agh!
but nice wips though!
post lang ng post bro.

Re: CMS table and fence extension
Thanks Sir V! I'm definitely getting that Bosch Multicut blade, but been inquiring thru phone and most dealers here have the 7 1/2 and 8 in. i'm looking for the 8 1/4 or 210mm. I guess I have to go around myself to look for it.
Btw, any one have heard or used Tatara brand brand of cs blades? Its been suggested to me as good enough...
Final additions to my cms fence/table extension...
Bridging the middle part of the table to create more rigidity
Raised the base with hole for clamping on the table
Sliding fence lock..
And lastly... My plywood knobs!
Re: CMS table and fence extension
@ hey Blackbriar,
I use the Tatara consumables particularly the 5" grinding stones , metal cutters and wire brushes plus flap disk sanders and have recently purchased 2 pcs. of Tatara chop off saw 14" replacement cutting blades. I do believe this is a good brand though but 🙁 I cannot say or give any comment regarding its Circular Saw blades.
I do believe too that its a Japan made products . 🙂 😉

:thanks: rosy for the good info.
Will get a few a few item to try like cut-off saw blades and disk sanders. We consume a lot of these in our shop cutting angle bars for the Panaflex and plastic sign frames, a good alternative to expensive blades.
Re: CMS table and fence extension
Have used the Tatara blades and they're OK. But when I got my Freuds, man, I realized what I was missing.

Where do you guys get your Freuds? Is it LU79 or the Premier Fusion?
