Re: My Shopmade Tools

Yes Sir Timber, its very dangerous and I always take precaution every time I use it. Blade to fence relations are constantly checked and proper set-up.

Under the hood...

Saw is secured to the table with 4 hard wood locks, allowing fast and easy maintenance. Set-up allows the circular saw to be taken out and re-attached with out any modifications.

Fine adjustments for 90 degrees blade alignment is done with tightening of 1 in. strap with snap on clip.

Re: My Shopmade Tools

For safe operation, I always perform these before even turning on the table saw:

Blade height adjustment. Lowering the blade with just enough tip clearance on the material.

90 degree blade alignment.

Blade to fence distance. The fence has an excellent alignment but I always check front and back distance before locking it.

And NEVER forget to use a push stick!

As of right now this design can accommodate my current needs, but I coming up with a Version 4: same design with larger table and a fold out extended table capable of ripping a whole board in half...

sir jayl, there's a model in ryobi circular saw that has a riving knife like this : http://www.onlinetoolreviews.com/reviews/ryobiECS1519.htm

I think its the same saw that Blackbriar75 used in his table saw.

@ BB have you tried bevel cuts using your TS?

Its a ECS12519 much the same in the link fortnapz gave. The cs's shoe is fixed on the table. Raising /lowering the blade moves the riving knife too.

In my second ts design thats currently being used in our work shop, its an open base design with the only a table being propped on an angular steel casing. They can cut bevels on it but they rarely use it. Mostly simple joinery and dimensioning are used when making display modules.

My ts can cut bevels too. But its being restricted by the narrow base. I can modify the base to enable bevel cutting but for now it will be just for crosscut and ripping only.

Maybe a WIP for a fourth ts...? 💡

Re: My Shopmade Tools

Bro can we give other members looking towards this TS solution at least an overall cost idea. How much to build one? tks

I think the riving knife makes it worthwhile as it addresses a major safety concern. Blade guards I'm positive other ingenious members can come up with more ideas. I would not be surprised to see if this design reaches a full blown TS solution. LOL

LOL ... I don't think I'm qualified enough to build this shop made TS yet.

I'll keep the 4100 🙂

Re: My Shopmade Tools

Thanks camv, but I think Im no where near Sir Armand's skills...

Matthias Wandel is a genius freak with his wooden machines...

Most of my work are for commercial purposes. One of projects that most of the time I use my table saw for. Made 15 units of these last year...

Re: My Shopmade Tools

I've been planning for the past few months on making a DIY table saw using a 9" Makita Circular Saw which I saw on display at WILCON Home Depot and a DIY Shop here in our place. Also have been doing research on the net on how to go about its construction , well plus watching Youtube VIDZ regarding this matter.

Just cannot start yet since plenty pa of metal working projects na naka line up. Watching bro Blackbriar75 postings tickled my curiosity and imaginations again, its as though confirming my plan to go ahead and build one but possibly using metal frames as its skeleton.

HMMMMM, I hope that day will come and I know its gonna be a challenge again for me, tapusin ko muna welding table ko, !!!! 😀 😉

My ts was built from excess materials so it costs me almost nothing.
1 pc. 1/2 marine ply is enough to make one as big as this one. Plus, some extruded aluminum, hardwood edging/rail, switches and wires. I would say 2k would be enough.

So far my plan for Ver. 4 Table Saw with a table size of 27x30 in. plus 27 x 24 fold down table extension and cabinet type base with built in dust collection runs up to 4k.

As for a blade guard, got some ideas with adjustabilty and dust collection port...
