Re: My workbench build (Jonathancruz)

yes very heavy,a nice character for a wb...rough estimate lang ito sir ha...4.2k for both the vises;4k for the TABLE TOP.the rest siguro less than 5k which includes the screws, bolts & nuts and glues,1.5k for the finishes that includes the BLO,ace satin poly & ace paint thinner.it took me 2 1/2 mths to build this project, because of the availability of time, because of my job & budget factors, ang mahal ng wood.

There we are guys more or less around 15K for materials. I'm sure we will hear from other fellow WB builders their cost factors too. None less different designs different cost.

Looking forward to more upgrades to your workbench build Jon. Personally I loved the tail vise section. Thanks so much for sharing.

yes there are many wb design with budget considerations.regardless of their cost its up them which one they are going to build.like i say,i build this wb,because i want to learn more about woodworking, the "traditional way".building this wb,increases my skills to another level, like handplaning, naku i tell you sir jayL,ang sarap pala mag katam ng kahoy, what a wonderful experience, and it's my first time to use a hanbdplane,.and also doing mortise and tenon, which the most traditional procedure in woodworking,a classic joint in WW. thanks very much sir jayL, hope to see you at the philconstruct event.sali ka na rin sa bosch contest.mabuhay ka sir!!!

Re: My workbench build (Jonathancruz)

sir jon, I have a question regarding your table top,

I noticed that when you glued your 2 X 4s for table top, hindi ba kayo gumagamit ng buscuit jointer aside from just gluing it with elmer's glue cos videos that I see in youtube shows how it is done and it also makes the joints more aligned and stronger, just curious.

Another concern is that in the course of following the pages of your thread, from the first up to
the last page, hope that when you post pics, sana wag mong ibleed mga pics, give a space or two para easier to look at and appreciate. Also huwag mong ioverlap pics sa captions, napuputol pag basa ko ng mga text. Yun lang sir jon.

But overall reaction is WOW ang ganda ng workbench mo sir jon, ka akit akit. Hope someday I'll build one for myself, have the courage and patience to start one para learn din ako sa woodworking. E kelan ba binyagan ng WB mo, siguro dapat may parada ng banda, he he he he.

yes i only glued it "BUTT" joint.
i don't see the need for the biscuit or dowel for reinforcement of the joint since it will be reinforced by a lag screw underneath,
and the table top will be well intact because of the end caps or breadboard at both edges, and railings at both sides..
so glue seems to be well enough...:p

sorry sir rosy for pics and phrases inconviniences...
to tell you the truth, when i become a member of PHM, hardly do i know about typing and computers...
thank God my children knows more than me about these computers.
nakakahiya man sabihin...computer illiterate pa ako manong, until now...
hangang type ng words at post ng pics (buti nga tinuruan ako ni timber magpost ng pics)
and those where my pics before, ngayon natuto na rin...
thanks for the compliments, i apprciate it.
yung binyag ?
naku sir rosy, puro gasgas na ang WB ko, nakakahiya ng binyagan.
good thing i mated it with a very thin rubber matting for added protection sa gasgas...
i suggest you build a WB, kahit simple lang muna...doing projects seems enjoying and fullfiling when you have a nice WB.
skills are honed-up to the next level...
thanks very much sir rosy, hope to see you soon, maybe sa eb's ng online item # 4 long version.
can't make it at master timber's 2nd WB inaugurals, i have a commitment to make at my father's farm, and kagagaling lang namin sa mainila last week, magastos, awan ti kwarta...:p
sayang nga e, really love to come
