Oh! Many thanks to you Timb for the shellac..it is now my favorite finish with BLO. I will post pics of the Piano Box soon, finally finished it at 5am this morning..;)

very easy to love Shellac, easy to apply... dries very fast... and finish is topnotch!!!

The quick drying time really saved me from the deadline. Yes the finish is indeed top notch, easy to build up, easy to retouch mistakes as well.

some minutes today to continue my trials with shellac, I figured I needed a wad...

what type of cloth did you use? was it cotton?

maybe an old t- shirt will do? sayang na tackle nyo na pala ang shellac-ing nung last EB, bad thing is i arrived late... guess all i have to do is to wait for the next shellac to arrive...thanks timb.

Ha. ha. ha ..:p.. Kinunan pala ako but you should see the actual finish its very smooth and mirror like finish will really motivate you to use shellac, had a great time that day broder sarap mag shellac. And also all my planes are tuned na sarap gamitin tissue paper ang shavings.

Does shellac keep? If you dissolve too much, can you keep it in a tupperware and keep indefinitely?

As you apply it, will the alcohol evaporate? If it does, can you add more?

I recall, as a kid, my father taught me how to "muniego" my wooden toolbox which involved applying a varnish-like liquid using a ball of old cotton TShirt (I thought it was varnish at that time). Is muniego (don't know proper spelling) what shellacing is called?

mirror finish, super kintab, super kinis, wetlook, or whatever...

the best finish i've ever seen...
