Re: Shellac...

Anybody tried using Konig or other woodstains after applying shellac? Can I top it with shellac or PU after applying woodstain/glaze?

I use a glaze on top of shellac then top it with shellac again, from there you can use pu over them...

Beebeenator used that on his 8 seater table which turned out perfectly good. You may check his WIP thread here...

Re: Shellac...

I didn't appreciate shellac much until I tried out sanding sealer. The drying times was way way long for the sanding sealer as against the few minutes even on brush-on shellac.

What brand of sanding sealer did you buy? The Boysen one I use dries up quickly.

Millermatic 180 Autoset Mig Welder
Miller Spoolmate 100 Spool Gun
Victor Firepower 350 Oxy Ace Outfit
3M Speedglas 9002X AD Helmet
Makita LC1230 Dry Cut Saw
Ingersoll Rand Air Tools

Metabo Power Tools
Norseman Drill Cutting Tools
Bosch Power Tools

Re: Shellac...

Got the ACE. Takes a couple of hours, or maybe I should have thinned it a bit.

the Boysen sanding sealer should dry in 15 to 30 minutes since it is lacquer based... the Ace brand is... hehehe OIL based kaya matagal matuyo... they must have chosen that to match their stains and poly... :jazzysax::jazzysax::jazzysax::jazzysax:

Sonny,

the SWMBO likes the outcome of the Miro glaze. 🙂 Just tried it on the legs though, might apply it on the rails tomorrow.
