I just want to share things i learned on my experiences in spray painting using spray cans.

Work place considerations:
1. place should be away from "sinampays" and or things you dont want to have spray paint particles
2. place should have no wind (IE electric fan pointing to the workplace) but has sufficient ventilation to get rid of the fumes.
3. the surface where you are going to work must be covered with newspaper or any scrap paper. make sure that it does not have dust

Preparation:
1. clean the parts to be painted, use a small brush to clean up hard to reach areas.
2. apply masking tape on parts of the object you don't want to be painted. (if applicable)
3. shake the spray can as directed on the directions of your spray can

Application:
1. make sure the nozzle is about 1 foot away from the object to be painted.
2. press the nozzle slightly to have better control on the spray and to minimize stress to the hands.
3. apply thin coats on the object, if you miss some spots its fine. you would get back to it later
4. let the coat dry. spray paints dries quickly in a few minutes (assuming you applied thin coats on it).
5. repeat steps 1 to 4 until you painted the object.

Post Application:
for metals (like my rifle) I do cook the paint job I did.
1. made sure every part of the object is dried for a day
2. place the object under direct sunlight, turn the object if necessary to have all sides cooked

Cleanup:
1. invert the spray can make a spray to clear up the extra paint inside.
2. clean the nozzle with a clean wet cloth.
3. store the can (if not yet empty) in a place with room temperature.

Failures:
1. to remove dry paint just apply acetone then sand the surface if you wish to reapply paint.
2. to remove wet paint just wipe it with a wet cloth.

If there are other who would wish to help me in this post feel free to post them here

Re: Spray Painting

Drying paint in direct sunlight will dry the paint too quickly and trap evaporating solvents which can make the paint blister.

Re: Spray Painting

agreed, thats why i have to dry the paint first naturally before cooking it,

forgot to add, workplace must not be under direct sunlight. same principle as estib mentioned. btw i called it bubbles than blisters hehehe

thanks for the feed back

Re: Spray Painting

Saka yung direction ng pag-paint mo dapat parallel sa surface. Para even yung pag-coat. Most people tend to sway the spray gun/can in a curved line, and that tends to make the coat uneven. 😉
