I'm a bit hesitant to start a thread in the "Building Skills" sub-forum because I don't have the skills.

Anyway, this is what I'm intending to build.

Primary intent is to increase the rip capacity of the Chin TS from 12 inches to 36 inches. It'll allow me to cut sheet goods on the TS.

The router table comes as a bonus. I only need to cut a hole in the TS "wing" for the router plate.

Here's another view of the mobile base without the TS:

There will be a dust catcher underneath and a hole for the vacuum hose at the back.

Rear view:

The wing is of the same width (or depth?) as the table saw so I can use the fence that came with the Chin.

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Hey Bro joey81,

Lke what I previously said in another thread you posted an image of this TS mobile base, you have a very nice and new concept design for your Chin TS mobile base. Pardon me for my apprehension on the matter of finished material you are going to use. Will the MDF boards be strong enough to hold the TS and RT, can the board joints take the weight and vibrations of the motor while using it ? :confused: 😮

I know an MDF boards will look nice on your build , what I am worried about is its tensile strength and durability, will it not manifest some wobbling in the long run or future use ? kasi sayang naman built mo. Hindi ba puwedeng 3/4" marine plywood na lang coz mas compact and solid ang MP. That's just my concern. :p :rolleyes:

NOW if I am wrong with all this concern then simply correct me, maybe we can also get some feedbacks from bryant and possibly get some assurance that its fine to use this MDF boards for your project.

JUST WISH YOU WELL on your project, GO GO GO GO joey81 !!!!!!!

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Nice design for the TS base Joey, I wish my shop is large enough to accommodate more additions like this one. Do you plan to install casters?

Re: TS mobile base with RT

@jon,

Thanks! Sana nga... buti pa ang film, nade-develop... hehehe.
Aral ka na rin ng sketchup. Madali lang, promise! PM me your email address. I'll send something that will help you get started with sketchup.

@bryant,

I can bring the TS over to your place para ma-try mo with MDF. Sana magkasya sa sasakyan yung mobile base pag natapos. I don't think may silbi sa iyo yung native. 12-inch rip capacity.

I'll use the MDF for fences and jigs, not for the base.

@rosy,

Thanks! Tama yung apprehension mo with MDF I don't think MDF can take the load and vibration, specially the joinery. 3/4 marine ply nga ang ginamit ko. Plus the weight, kung MDF baka hindi natin mabuhat ito papuntang Proj. 4. 😀

@Armand,

Caster, yes. Hindi ko na lang isinama sa sketchup, but I factored in its height. Yung cheap lang ang gagamitin ko: 2 for 66 pesos sa Japan Home. Pinakyaw ko na yung tinda nila. Hehehe.

I'm already working on it, rosy. Already cut the plywood. Dadoes and notches are next.

No, its not yet rolling. The casters will be attached in during the later stages of assembly. :hysterical:

Will probably need your help transporting it to Project 4. 😀

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Right you are bro bryant, the large work table or workbench is very practical, for me ha, if you are done with one project and won't use the table, you could easily dismantle it and place it in one corner until the next project again. Very nice and brilliant idea !!!! Its a space saver workbench indeed. HMMMMMMmmmm,paano ko kaya magagawang collapsible yung welding table ko ??????? LOL LOL

Even me, just picked some ideas on this for my welding table build, very practical indeed. he he he he
