Re: TS mobile base with RT

@joey,

you might have used a flush trim bit rather than a pattern bit.otherwise, you could have messed that aluminum bar level.

why didnt you use cauls to improve your clamping?

you can borrow mine if you need more clamps.

:apple:

Flush trim ba yun? Basta yung shear cut na may bottom bearing. Hehehe.

Was too lazy to make cauls for this one off job. I managed to get the job done with the help of screws: clamp one portion, drive a screw to hold it in place and move the clamp to another location.

Thanks for the offer. Will surely consider that for the next job. :p

Re: TS mobile base with RT

I never got to finish this project. Now I need to reboot it because I now have a different table saw.

Finished assembling the metal frame last night

This morning it received a coat of red oxide

Trying out his new home

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Marking the spot where to drill the holes

A minor flaw in the design. The nuts are too close to the frame. Finally got a job for the carbide burr from JayL 😎

Re: TS mobile base with RT

These are the support for the extended rails

Test fit

Since it is impossible for me to make the rails ofthe exact height, I made it about half an inch lower. I'll just put wooden spacers later

With the rail supports installed. Router table also inserted in between the extended rails.

The GTS1031 now has a rip capacity of 40" (from the default 18"), and I can also use the table saw's rip fence for table routing..

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Now for the storage cabinets. I have some 2nd hand plywood that are not wide enough for my need. I just edge-join them with the help of biscuits

The "leg-less" pipe clamps are very unwieldy to use. These grip clips come in very handy in stabilizing the pipes

You can make the clip base high enough to lift the clamp off the table. This way you can slide the clamp without having to lift the pipe. In my opinion this makes my leg-less clamps in some way better than the legged ones

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Plyboards now clamped together

Now I have boards of the desired width

When neither side of the board to be ripped is not straight enough, I extend the rip fence using an aluminum level bar

The long fence will "ride over" the uneven edge.

Re: TS mobile base with RT

The insides get a protective coat of QDE

The top gets glued on

Now for the edge banding. Hand tools get their turn.

Re: TS mobile base with RT

I just realized that this morphed into an entirely new project. When it started I have a Chin TS, Hitachi M12VC router and a phenolic router plate.

Now I have a Bosch GTS1031 TS, Hitachi M12V2 router, a Woodpecker aluminum router plate and an entirely new mobile base.

Nice planning and concept for the support of your TS, now with rip capacity of 40" from the former 18" plus an additional router installed under the rip fence. Very compactT and functional indeed. Now will just be waiting for the finish (completion) of your cabinets/drawers and over-all color schemes.

Nice job bro joey81, just keep it coming !! :2thumbsup:;)

Re: TS mobile base with RT

Thanks, rosy! You'll have to wait for quite a while before you see the finished TS/RT station. I'm only able to work on it during weekends.

Still have lots to do: outfeed table, drawers, cabinet doors, masilya, electricals, painting the metal frame and cabinet...

The good thing is the station is already functional for sawing and routing jobs.
