Alluminun Shiftknob: How to make it look new longer

I have a shiftknob made of leather and alluminum. The leather part is still fresh and the alluminum part is scratchless but it's a little dark already.

I polish it with glo or autosol and it will look like new again. But after a few weeks of use, it goes back to its dull color.

Is there a way to make it shiny for a very much longer period if it cannot be done permanently?

The shiftknob is already rare and considered a collector's item so I don't want to replace it with other brands. Though I still have a TRD shiftknob as a backup, I still prefer using the this one.

Thanks.

Do you think having it chrome or silver plated is a good idea?

Is there a shop in Makati or Paranaque that do chrome or silver plating?

Thanks.

Perhaps you can try the aluminum wheel refurbishers first. They use clear liquid polyurethane coat on to shine wheels. It's tested on rough environmental condition and use.

Oh yeah! Why have I not thought of that? 🙂

Thanks
