Good day, have a problem with my bro Civic Lxi A/T, the problem is at first on the D4 it has a good pick up but after the automatic shifts runing about 40 to 50kph, the rpm goes up to 4,000 to 5,000 rpm, then i'll try to accelerate 2 times or more then it goes back and run smooth up to 80 up kph, we already change na po ung atf with total dexron 111, 3 1/2 liters ang na fill namin correct po ba ung atf na nakabit namin?? when i check the tranny naman po pag start to P shift to D4 me
sipa naman and car runs even not push accel, and same sa R, Does the car have a problem with the tranny ligning na po ba? bale main problem was the high gear delay po, ano kaya better to do? thank you and God Bless to all..

hoping for all youre help...

Sir Nicolodeon,

Thanks po, sa tingin nyo lining na problem even though ok naman ang hatak at 1st and 2nd?? ung delay lang after 40 to 50kph ang problem? kc kahit pa akyat im using the D4 ok naman po, and pag check naman P going to D4 ok naman po me sipa and naabante naman kahit di tapakan accelerate and same sa R, d po ba sa atf na pinalit ko? it was total dexron 111 and dko po napalitan ng filter?? Thank you so much sir God Bless and have a safe trip always..

when it comes to tranny oil.. usually ginagamit nila is desame as your engine oil.. sabi nila pareho lang daw.. pero syempre i prefer ATF para sure..

Sir Pawl..
thanks po anyway pa check ko nalang meron kaya maganda shop na reliable banda dito sa paranaque whos expert sa matic?? me nagsabi din kc na baka dun nga daw sa tranny filter or strainer or sa torque converter daw baka sunog na, kc maganda naman manakbo after nung delay nya and pag P to D4 me sipa naman same sa R. baka wala nga din dun sa pagpalit ko ng atf fluid (total dexron 111) ang ginamit ko, so far ginagamit ko car and check ko ung tranny stick d naman amoy sunog, sour ang amoy and redish ang color, thank you sir so much.. it really helps..God Bless 🙂

i think your problem is not on the tranny but on your throttle body, mataas kamo ang idling kaya pag shift sa d4 or R umaandar na. whats your idle? more than 1000 ba? if its is the clean your throttle body baka madumi na kaya di na tama ang idling.

yung sipa naman pag shift mo from P - R or D4 is cause by your engine and transmission supports. have it checked baka sira na ang mga supports, replace lang naman yun around 4 pcs.

Re: Problem about A/T Civic Lxi pls help

Automatic Transmission is Fluid Drive, it has no clutch lining. Contrary to what others say that ATF is the same as your engine oil, they are absolutely wrong. Engine oil's main purpose is lubrication. ATF's main purpose is as a hydrostatic fluid, like your brake fluid, it is designed to flow smooth and fast. Using engine oil in your A/T will destroy the rubber seals on the system.

Sounds like the tiptoe setting on your A/T is a bit off. On your engine, search for a cable running from your throttle going to the transmission box. On the Lxi this cable pulls a small lever whenever throttle moves.
Adjusting the tension on this cable/lever determines how the car will shift. Setting it loosely makes the car shift earlier on lower rpms, while tightening it up makes the car shift on higher rpms. I would check if the cable is binding as well which is probably what is causing your problem.
