Re: repair clear plastic

Not all plastics can be glued by epoxy. In fact, I use plastic containers when mixing epoxy so I can peel off the left-over dried epoxy. I also use plastic book covers or left over grocery bags to mask out areas that I do not want to have epoxy.

Best to test first.

Re: repair clear plastic

I have repaired a few broken tail lights for my friends using chloroform. But as bararila said not all plastic are the same. Some cant be glued up by chloroform I use mighty bond.

When using CA glue apply just enough amount on the contact surfaces. I use toothpick to spread the glue thin but moving fast. After bonding Ca glue produces fuming, I remove these using 3-in-1 oil or wax. Hth.

Re: repair clear plastic

There is an acrylic solvent i use from Dental supplies that is used to melt and weld acrylic plastics and powders. If the tail light material does not weld then your chances are much better w/ CA or super glue. If you can find one in gel form it would minimize spills and unwanted mess. Loctite and Mighty Bond are some of the brands i know w/c has these in gel formula. Good luck.

😮 gumagawa ka rin ng pustiso ?

we call that self cure powder & liquid mixture,
a powder polymer when mix with liquid monomer ( in appropriate ratio )
will cure into a very hard plastics by itself, automatically.

there are various colors, of which the commonly used are the pink ( gum ) and clear.
meron din violet, orange, green etc, etc .

there is also a heat cure ( hardened when heated ) form of that acrylic resins.

ginagamit ko syang alternative sa epoxy,
before, pag nasisira yung handle ng bintana ( pawes window ) ng kotse namin,
ginagamit ko syang pandikit ng handle temporarily,
kaso tumatagal sya ng ilang taon bago idikit ko ulit ng self cure acrylic resins.:play_ball:

best is you bond it first with a very thin application of CA,
then make a groove and put the acrylic resins, levelled,
this goes well for clear plastics...

Hehehe.... my wife is an Orthodontist and I used to tinker w/ her acrylics in my past Big bike restorations. Really easy to work with and very forgiving to mistakes:knit:

Re: repair clear plastic

I would like to suggest acetone as it is a CA glue remover unfortunately, it will eat up the plastic as well.

Don't ask how I knew it 😀

Re: repair clear plastic

to remove super glue from plastics po - ung residue or accident - you could sand it out lightly then buff it to a shine 🙂 you could also try to use kerosene pero baka magfade masyado or maluto ung plastic.. 🙂
