Re: replacing oil seal from a leaking power steering pump

now the oil seal is been removed..

[IMG][/IMG]

then i also need to pull out the bearing to see the second oil seal inside..

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

i removed the bearing by tapping it with rubber mallet..dont use hammer or else you may damage the shaft or spline.if you don't have rubber mallet a wooden handle of hammer will do..[IMG][/IMG]

Re: replacing oil seal from a leaking power steering pump

after removing the bearing.as you can see from the picture there is a secondary oil seal sitting inside the pump housing..

[IMG][/IMG]

i removed this by pushing it out from the back using screw driver and hammer..

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

oil seal kit..dumayo pa ng manila para makakita lang nato..i went to toyota cabanatuan unfortunately they had no replacement parts by order lang daw and it takes a week or two before i can get the kit..

Re: replacing oil seal from a leaking power steering pump

inserting new oil seal..i use socket to prevent uneven entry of the oil seal in the housing.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

and now for the bearing.. put some oil to the shaft to pre lubricate the seal and bushing as well..

Re: replacing oil seal from a leaking power steering pump

inseting the bearing..

[IMG][/IMG]

lock that comes in a kit is much thicker..so i choose to retain the original bearing lock..

[IMG][/IMG]

lubricating oil seal housing for smooth entry when inserting the new oil seal..

Re: replacing oil seal from a leaking power steering pump

applying silicone gasket to prevent the chances of leaking..

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

in high speed motion, the vane (a fan like blade) will open which forcing the liquid to enter in the power steering column then the piston inside the column will react and assist every time the driver steer..as far as i know this is how power steering works.

after leak testing and run it for a short while..and it works perfectly fine!:D
so i inform the owner that his car is ready to go..he quickly get his car out of my garage and paid me 1k..not bad for a half day job! much longer to take pictures than the actuall job.hehehe.

hope this will help when fixing your own leaking pump..that's all folks!

Sorry for the late response..sir try mo sa toyota motors sa area mo baka may stock sila ng outer seal na hanap mo..nag kataon lang kasi na wala silang stock ng time na yun..if i remember correctly 120 php lang ang price nun..

i suggest na whole kit na ang bilhin mo to make sure na walang pangagalingan ng leak..mura lang naman..450 yata but that was before..
