Just bought one, followed the instructions but unfortunately the result is not good.

The lines of the sandpaper (included in the kit) are still there!

Buti na lang i just tested in one HL, yun lang panget tignan talaga.

Since damge has been done, any recommendations? Should I resort to a pro? Wll buffing can take that out?

Haaaay, anoher diy story na naman... (DESTROY IT YOURSELF) 🙁

Hi brad sam_0115,

What is the grit of the included sandpaper in your kit ??

Maybe you can try buffing your HL and see if the fine line marks will be minimized, hope it does.

Good luck bro !! 🙂

Re: Turtle Headlight Restoration kit (fail 🙁 )

Hi sir rosy, thanks for the advice and to answer your question, the kit not specify the grit details. It was labeled from 1 to 4 in a 1x1 inch, back to back sandpaper with rubberish kind in the middle.

Since i do not have a buffing machine, casa would be the next solution to my problem as to what i saw in another car forums.

It cost 1k only, local detailing shops would charge you at least 2k. Buying an attachment for my drill (from what i saw from 3m site) or make one (another headache to research for the materials etc...) is not an option and might cost me more.

This experience is new to me as my HL in my other car is made of glass...

Would you have a link of the kit you used? I would like to reply but it might be useless unless I know the variables.... Yes I'm not familiar with the kit though there are some stuff you mentioned that would be useful in my advice....

My take is that you will also need a buffing tool with the right speed.

I am from Marikina and maybe I can help with the buffing part. I have a pro buffing machine with me we can use. I too have been curious w/ that headlight restoration kit before but never got around to buying it. 🙂

Re: Turtle Headlight Restoration kit (fail 🙁 )

Sir timber- i just did quick google on the company and did not checked on it's details. I did watched the youtube version of it though...

Sir jayL - 3m has a drill powerball attachement but it cost higher the turtle (i do ENVY your shop very much!!!! Hehehe!)

Sir willy- thanks for the alok, i can dropby at your place to show the product sometime, if schedule permits.

Just want to add that the kit comes with a sealer which i did not use since i did achieved the look/restoration they claim.

Pero baka aki din kasi ang mali kaya ganun kinalabasan 🙁

Re: Turtle Headlight Restoration kit (fail 🙁 )

Just a thought here but, I watched a guy buff his headlights using only toothpaste and hand polishing. I have never tried it but its cheap and worth the effort.

Is this the kit? Turtle
Just like Jay mentioned you might need to dial the correct speed to get the polish you need, but this kit requires none so better read the manual now....

Re: Turtle Headlight Restoration kit (fail 🙁 )

Sorry i Thought my reply here went through, di pala.

Sir i read naman syempre the manual/procedure sa box. I even watched the youtube promotional video ad nila way way back pa.

But just an update, i bought an el cheapo buffing attachment for the drill, dahan dahan, the haze reduced! So i guess a pro buffing tool machine as what sir willy offered will solve the problem talaga 🙂

I also used Turtle headlight restoration kit. Kahit walang posted picture si TS, I think it is the same product.

In our Honda City's case, it worked fine.

Just...[COLOR="Red"]DRILL IT!

Re: Turtle Headlight Restoration kit (fail 🙁 )

I'd rather have it done by the experts. Aside from the exterior, its better to open the headlights to remove the dirt inside. I've seen how its done in Banawe. They use a coarse rubbing compound then fine polish after.
