After changing the Tbelt, water pump, seals, before xmas (sorry di ako nakapagpicture, ako lang kasi mag isa gumawa) I decided to go further para me bonding kami ni mrs at ng kid namin the rest of the holidays..

Scope of work: cleaning of intake manifold, TB, checkng of wirings and remanufacture the rack and pinion and power steering . (Please do not expect instructional pointers like what sir miked did in his recent DIY presentation)

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

Finally, nabaklas ko na din ....

while doing the gearbox overhaul, and waiting for other parts to arrive (my daughter from manila), itinayo ko yung steering rack as a first way to check kung me leak ang end seal..

Inipit ko nalang muna sya sa grip wala pa kasi ako bearing separator (di ko pa napapasyalan yung brod natin taga pasy hehehe) which is recommended to be used in this situation..

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

as you can see in the picture, meron tumagas nung pagabi na kaya its an indication na need na rin i overhaul..

BTW, kung hindi siya nag leak, another method i used to determine kung me problem na yung end seal by engine washer using atf. bubugahan yung papasok ng side fittings at pagagalawin yung shaft.. ingat lang sa pressure, dapat mahina lang baka sa sobrang lakas bumaligtad yung although hindi pa nangyayari sa experience ko yung ganon kahit minsan napapalakas yung pressure gamit ko..

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

I forgot, before I assembled the TB, my wife did the cleaning of IACV and FITV (that one under the TB) using brake cleaners, joy and running water..

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

It took us two days in doing all the above tasks..

Unfortunately, nabuhusan ako ng atf sa paa but i did not bother about it not knowing na meron pala ako maliit sugat.. Kinagabihan, namaga paa ko and then two days na baldado....

As of today, yung power steering nalang di pa nakakabit, medyo naging busy sa paper work s. I'll try to update this thread kapag iaasemble ko na, less my kids nasa manila na kasi sila. hehehe

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

Many thanks bro rosy. :thanks:

yeah you're right tokayo, very supportive sakin ang CIC ko.

anyways, regards and cheers bro.. 🙂

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

Bro ... good thread ... Teamwork.

You mean the ATF entered the wound and caused havoc. I have not experienced this yet but we do need to take this seriously. I for one work with ATF from time to time and had never paid attention on small arm cuts ( galos ) getting in contact with the fluid. Maybe just got lucky there was no contact.

Hope you're fine now.

Re: Yearend Car Maintenance DIY Family Bonding

Im fine now sir JayL, thanks..

Actually that's what I been thinking too. i been doing this thing and frequently using ATF in the past but haven't experienced it before. Maybe, it was just a mere coincidence or probably it had simply aggravated my wound already going bad ...

i hope i can visit your place soonest...

regards bro
