Mga Sir any guide how to convert appliance came from US? I'm planning to buy a Meguiars Dual action polisher G110v2..their latest model...use for Car buffing..at cost of $ 149.99 at amazon...but the problem..its 120v/60Hz...equivalent for about Php 6,700.00

But I found out they have model for 220v...released in UK...G220V2 model....but the price is a staggering of 189.99 British pound!....roughly 13,400 pesos....for an exchange rate of Php 71.00 = BP 1.00....You see the difference?

BTW..I opted not to use...a transformer or AVR...since it will be hassle...doing the job...carrying it from one place to another....

Any reliable feedback might help....for my personal knowledge....although I have my electrician...just want to make sure..he's getting the job correctly done.....knowing the principle...behind the task....TIA...

I think you will need to rewind the motor in order to convert it to 220v. If I were you titiisin ko na lang yung hassle ng transformer. Habaan mo na lang yung extension cord between the unit and the transformer para hindi sagabal.

Baka naman pwede sa iyo yung locally available na variable speed angle grinders. Gamitan mo na lang ng attachments for buffing/polishing. I got a 4-inch Bosch variable speed from Binondo for about 3.5K if I remember correctly.

buy ka nalang ng product available dito sa Pinas. kung buy ka ng transformer, mapamahal ka lang.

pero actually puede mos gamitin yan ngunit babagal ang rpm.

anyway. malamang yan gadget na yan for sure hinde gawa sa USA yan. so what's the point of buying that.

cheers

Right, just buy Black & Decker/ Bosch/ DeWalt or Makita. Wag ka lang bibili ng CHinese brands at baka maaksidente ka lang. hehe

Ano ba meron dun sa Meguiar's polisher that you want na wala sa aforementioned brands? If you really need that, I'd suggest to just use a transformer. Baka magbago kasi ang performance.

if using a step-down is a hassle to bring around, why not use a long extension cord and keep the transformer near the socket. at least you don't carry it around if that is the problem.
if you really wanting 110V gears bec of brand/performance/specs/price, best option is to get the transformer and it opens your world to other choices and other appliances (tools for us). yun nga lang, you are limited by the transformer capacity you get, thats why we have 5000watts for headroom 😀

You may check the Meralco supply to your home. If it is 110V-0-110V just connect wire on the 110V line and the other to the ground. No need to buy a transformer you have an instant 110V supply.
To do this you may use a multitester set at 250VAC range, measure the voltage across the two wires, once you measure 220VAC lift one probe of the multitester and connect it to the metal casing of the wall outlet, if you measure 110VAC that means your power supply is two lives wires with 110VAC each. Just make sure your wall outlet is properly grounded. If you measure 220V or 0 that means your power supply is 0-220V. one wire is ground, the other is 220V. In this case you really have no other option but to buy a transformer. Just be safe, let others with knowledge do it if you're not familiar testing it.

The standard length to be used as earthing ground is 1.2m L x 16mm thk copper rod, insert to a muddy soil and weld terminal lug on the rod.

Use #12 awg copper wire stranded and terminate on your outlet, then terminate another #12 awg wire to one live wire of any AC outlet. From here you can derive 120VAC for you appliances made in USA.

Precaution: Check if your Meralco line is 3-wire, two live wire and one earthing uninsulated wire.
