Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
this disc is also good in cutting the acrylic as i mentioned before, 1mm thin.
sample acrylic test cut on the upper left side of the picture - no melting during cutting with my Bosch variable speed angle grinder which was set to no. 1.
i used that disc to cut the straight line on the oval shape below:

Oz hindi ba makati sa balat and kamay acrylic dust?
Tamang tama pala yan sa mga guards gusto ko gawin para sa bench grinders.
Please post more techniques.
How do you buy acrylic ? Square foot or any size? How about thickness?
Thanks

Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
I have experienced using acrylic and as far as I've seen and felt, hindi naman sya makati to trigger a skin allergy pero may dusts din sya that may trigger nasal allergy if you have such.
The Manila Acrylic center is very flexible to the dimensions that you need (not sure if they still does). They may hand you swatches that you could choose from.
Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
@ ossie, akala ko you're using the diy acrilyc bender utilizing oven toasters heaters, a lot of pc modders use that before.
Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
^but more expensive since most toasters are high wattage appliances 🙁
Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
@jay,
yup hindi naman sya makati kahit i grind mo pa as jarodski said 🙂
and you can buy at MAC any sizes and thickness you need.
@bong,
i just experimented the denatured alcohol (remember our lab subject?) for bending acrylic, ok sya, compare mo sa iba ang ginagamit ay mainit na tubig, oven toaster, gas stove etc.
and i have also my DIY acrylic bender version:

Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
sir ossie...
on acrylic bending... I saw a setup once (sana mabalikan ko para kunan ko ng pic)
It was made of a ceramic light receptacle with a 100W bulb - covered by an aluminum (or stainless tube).
When the light was turned on, the heat coming from the bulb would heat up the aluminum tube very fast and thus allowing the heat to soften the acrylic.
It was mounted on a piece of wood with the bulb oriented horizontally covered by the aluminum tube.
Then when the acrylic was soft enough, they had a jig for various bend angles that allows them to create big and small diameter bends.
Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
this is nice, is it readily available in the market or is it also DIY acrylic bender? pls post some pics and info, baka may interesado sa atin dito. hehe

Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
@Yong: I have seen a similar setup as well but the owner use it for bending veneers as he makes guitars.
@Ossie: Nice Yamaha-ish color! Is that a zinc chromate primer? Never new it could be used for plastics as well. I assumed that was sprayed noh?
OT: How thin/viscous/runny does Anzhal base and clear coat compared to enamel?
Re: DIY Exodus Computer Case Modding
@jarodski,
yes its anzahl green primer. you can use that for plastic also. but if you are going to paint your car (plastic parts such as bumper etc) the recommended primer is Nippon Nax PP(Polypropylene) primer.
i cant answer this because i really dont know 😮 hehehe
