Long ago, it was Heathkit, but they went out of the kit business in 1992. Only kit I ever did was an oscilloscope. It was interesting and fun but I don't think I learned all that much from the exercise.
Are you really looking for education as opposed to kits per se?

About kits, marami sa e-gizmo at alexan. I myself started with my hobby on alexan kits when I was a frist yr college.

computer related projects, bulit your own multimeter? basic robotics? stepper motors?
It should be something na magagamit mo...fruit of your labor...marami akong pwedeng i-share sa iyo but when I come back from vacation.Useful and related with your personal interest.
When I was studying ECE, i started with amplifiers, equalizers, power supply then of course assemble my own PC . Then nahilig ako sa stepper motors, basic robotics na may kasamang programming at PC interface.
Wala pang internet, you have to buy Cook book for IC and transistor manuals like ECG and SK series.
If you are interested with building your own subwoofer, i can share some projects with you.

try nyo po sa alexan commercial, marami sila kits for sale dun and pati documentation and other electronics components meron sila, my branch sila sa 5th floor ng megamall, meron din sa raon at sa binondo
