guys,pa help naman po ako build my tool box & tips on how/where/why to buy quality (beginner & intermediate) tools
intermediated, coz eventally il outgrow the beginner tool kaya consider ko na din ung longterm.
1. digital multi tester
nakita ko po ung isang bumibil,i tinetest nia ito by intersecting the probes.pano po ba iyon?
meron po bang beginner friendly technique of testing ang mga digimulti testers?
2. _____
3. _____
etc
@admin,tama po ba location ng thread na to ? ilipat ko nalng or delete kong hinde.thanks

boo, you may try the CDRKing multitester for only 120.00 for basic testing and measurements since you're starting pa naman. At least, if you fumbled and broke your multitester it wouldn't be that sorry =D

A pro electronics technician?!?!?! This I didn't know!
And you have a fre@kin oscilloscope to boot! Idol!!!
Me and my dad also had one of these Wellers but a banged up one! I think I have the old heavy and glossy version. Finding a good tip is a PITA! Where do you get yours?
Wow, yummy security/tamper proof bits! Now you know how to open those weird screws found in toys bundled in McDo's Happy Meals
Re: essential tools
If it's electronics be it parts, tools or soldering tips Raon is the first place that comes to my mind.

Re: essential tools
Essential tools -- something to strip insulated wire. Usually a 'wire stripper' but for typical wire sizes used in electronics (number 22 to 16 or so), I prefer and can strip better with a sharp pair of scissors.
Have you looked at http://www.electronicslab.ph/forum/ , beginner section of the forums.
Re: essential tools
It doesn't take much to venture into electronics - you need...
1. tester - to measure volts (AC or DC), current (A, mA, uA range), resistance (Mohm, Kohm, ohm range)
a basic sanwa portable analog multitester will do. Of course you can also choose a portalble digital
multitester or go with a bench multitester.
(I believe a sanwa analog multitester should set you back about P2.5K max no less than P2K)
2. soldering - to solder or desolder electronic components
a basic 40W soldering iron will do. Of course you can also choose a temperature controlled soldering iron
so that no matter what happens it will not overheat your components. A desoldering pump or I prefer
the desoldering wick. Some soldering lead and soldering paste.
(a 40W soldering iron usually costs P150 or less, soldering lead is about P25/m, desoldering wick ~P200)
3. wire stripper, cutter - you can go with basic long nose and cutter pliers or you can buy a wire stripper
if you get a set at Handyman or Ace they would cost you about ~P500 or less
4. screwdirvers - yung pang electronics ha smaller philips screw, torq screw, micro screws got forbid
electronic components will be using a 9 inch philips screw... 🙁
if you get a set at Handyman or Ace they would cost you about ~P500 or less
5. DC power supply - you will need a good DC power supply (you can build or buy). simplest is to use a pc
power supply you get +/-5V and +/-12V already.
a basic 500W PC power supply would cost P1K or less
For about P5K, you can have your basic tools and buy your first electronic project kit components.
if you have these 5 items you are good to go.
you need a cheap working AM transistor so you can disassemble using your screwdrivers, you can measure using your multi tester, you can desolder and solder using your soldering iron, and you can eventually destroy and fix it.
a first project would allow you to practice the use of all of the above tools would be the basic 40Watt stereo amplifier - usually in a kit or you can research in the internet, get the parts. Attach the input to your iPod, attach the output to external speakers and then be happy if you hear anything. If you followed instructions correctly you should get good music minus the DUF DUF DUF. A 1000W per channel amp project should give you all the DUFF DUFF DUFF you need -> or you could find another basic project and just buy yourself a good 1000W car amplifier 🙂
Enjoy...

I purchased that Weller soldering gun from LYS hardware in Recto. However you probably might want to check Raon too.
