Anybody knows a good Fluke dealer with service capabilities?

My old Fluke 77 needs calibration and probably a new display. One digital segment seems to be " pundido" na.

Thanks

Re: Fluke

There is a shop along Raon bro that can repair and calibrate. Sorry I forgot the name. Also, there is a store in Home Depot in Fort Boni that seems to be the distributor of Flukes. I've not been there in quite awhile though.

I've been "fixing" my Flukes myself so please post what you find out because they could use some TLC from a pro.

Re: Fluke

I don't know what's wrong with the display because one segment is not lighting up so kulang lagi yung left most digit.

For calibration I don't have a regulated 3V DC power source with the proper accuracy to use for reference point. Do you happen to have such a power supply capable of 3.000V + or - .0005V.

This is the Fluke which had been acting up lately.

Thanks

Re: Fluke

One of my Flukes had a similar problem. The reason was that the contacts between the LCD and the main circuit board were dirty and loose. The way to clean contacts is to use a pencil eraser which lightly abrade the contacts. The same applies by the way to all electrical contacts. A common mistake is to use coarse sandpaper.

Sorry bro, no supply, actually no regulated supply at all. My interest in electronics as a hobby is in a period of deep hibernation. What we could do though is compare the reading for my Flukes against yours if you like. I have two Fluke 87s which are 5-1/2 digit IIRC.

Re: Fluke

Bro,

Thank you very much for the kind offer.

Let me check the contacts first as you advised. I'll try to open it up tomorrow. Have you tried using contact cleaners before for this kind of display problem.

I had this unit for almost 20 years now and it's been very very slightly used. I'm done with electronics too and I just need it for basic stuff here and there.

Thanks again.

Re: Fluke

Contact cleaners ... sure, in another lifetime. Ever since someone showed me the eraser thing this is what I've used. I've on occasion I've still used contact cleaner but only when I could not use an eraser.

I agree a pro is way to go. Let me know what you find out.

Re: Fluke

Bro,

Got chance to check the Fluke but no luck. Looks like I need an LCD replacement.

I took out the LCD to have a look. Probably 20+ years had taken it's toll already. The meter is still usable except for this nuisance so I did not take it further and try to open the LCD itself. During it's prime Fluke must have kept spares since it's just a plug and play replacement.

Having nothing to swap test with I can only presume that it's the LCD itself.

Re: Fluke

This is the number segment problem

It should also read VAC here but the AC is missing so another problem there.

I'll use it as it is unless I find a spare.

Thank you so much for your help in trying to resolve the problem.

Re: Fluke

If upper right segment is out, I think you would not be able to tell 5 from 9, or 6 from 8.

I see Fluke LCDs on eBay every now and then. Usually cheaper than a used meter but not always.
