hey guys, if you are looking for some water based poly in either satin, semi gloss or gloss finish then stop looking.
yesterday i went to SM MOA and it surprised me to find their shelves now filled up with water based urethanes...and they are cheap comparatively speaking with lets say PYE brand from malaysia sold at 470p a quart.
one quart of Ace water based poly just sells for 350p and a gallon for 950...they are fresh stocks from the US so hurry before supply lasts...remember, the urethanes are good to impart a clear finish within two years from production date.
i still have about 3 liters of that PYE poly and it has yellowed in time..id better use it soon to get hold of those water based poly..easy on the brush and no toxic fumes like the conventional poly.
go go go!

Re: Ace water based poly
That's good news! I hope they have it in all branches as well.
Talo sa transpo kung sasadyahin ko pa yun moa.
Thanks for the info! 🙂
Re: Ace water based poly
John, malamang wala sa ibang Ace since that was a special order for a hotel in Roxas blvd. and was made only for MOA. They only have several gallons of this water based Poly and one of them has been in the hands of Moji (and now Violaine too).
It looks like milk when opened, so don't get shocked that it isn't clear, but it does dry clear, lol.

there is a reason why they have staff there to answer questions and inquiries. talking to them is often easier than getting your eyes sore ;)... in my case I make them my friend, gives me better information and help better. no need to be a super snoop... 😀
oh, and btw, the supervisors or managers would know more about the store products than the display people, try them too. :p

Does it still look like the below? This was from one year ago at Megamall. Looks like the price hasn't changed. They seemed to pop up every now and then at various branches, but only gloss.
So there is satin and semi-gloss now?
Where did that two-year clear shelf life figure come from? Does that apply to all polyurethanes, not just Ace, not just water-based?
It costs less per gallon than Ace Polyurethane, but has less coverage, so it costs slightly more per unit area.

Re: Ace water based poly
Just came from ace in greenbelt 1 and they have the gallon of gloss waterbase poly. I have seen the semi gloss i liter can at SM north before but i don't know if they still have stock.
Re: Ace water based poly
they have the water based poly gloss in Sm Megamall . lots
Re: Ace water based poly
I saw the Deft brand of paint at Wilcon along C-5 and they have waterbased poly there but it is quite expensive at P800 for a quart..
Re: Ace water based poly
i used the Ace H20 basedPoly ( i feel bad now kasi may Deft pala sa boss ko hehehe)
it raised the grain on my BLO rubbed stool. I brushed the ace poly on the seat and the leg panels. The legs were ok but the seat had major grain raising..
The BLO has been cured for weeks now. hmmmmm
Re: Ace water based poly
that should be an easy fix Ben, light sanding lang using a scrap wood as a sanding block and some 400 grit or as high as 220 grit should do the trick. having the grain raised with poly in it makes it stiff and much better to smoothen...
