I have two Craftsman dovetail jigs I bought off eBay:

First one:

These will not work with just any router so please make sure you can use them before you get excited. Unlucky me I sold my 110v Craftsman router the year before I got these.

IIRC I bought each for something like $50 but I'll take credits on seeing them being used.

"Currencies" I accept are tools of course, exotic woods or shop supplies, maybe literature, pesos but least of all :).

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

Craftsman does not manufacture tools. Can we ID who manufactures the craftsman routers that these jigs work on. Any craftsman router models given on the jig boxes? Bosch and Black and Decker use to OEM routers for Craftsman.

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

i am still not familiar with dovetail jigs. But is it the guide bushings that it comes with that will either make it compatible or incompatible with a given router?

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

Mr. Bee now has one of them. The guides fit his Craftsman router no problem. Hope to see you having fun with it soon, Bee.

One left. The other is exactly the same except that you'll have to assemble it, which is not hard at all. We have to get a copy of the manual from Bee though, no big deal.

Remember you must have a Craftsman router to use this.

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

i shall post the manual by tonight. Funny thing is the router shown in the manual is the router i have. 🙂

I didnt have time to fiddle with it yesterday. I was being a little obsessed at having a proper router fence done. Which i finally was able to do

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

I didnt really read the manual. It was actually confusing.

I did burn out (ooops) a 3 inch part of a template *sob* now i know why one of the bushing guides SPECIFIED that when using a 1/4 inch dovetail we had to use a bit that has an extended neck ( a long tapered portion bewteen the collet and the bit itself)

The bushing ended up rubbing against the collet = heat= melted plastic. I could still used 5 inches worth of template still

Re: Craftsman Dovetail Jigs

This is great Bee! I've had that thing for so long it is good to see it being put to good use.

Could please post a picture of the "burned out" part of the template? It might be repairable. Another option is to make an aluminum template using the good part of the plastic template with a trimming bit. Aluminum can be cut with carbides or even high speed steel just go slow. You should also put a piece of plywood between the template and the aluminum sheet so heat from the aluminum does not melt the plastic ... again :). I could even lend you a good template from the other set I have.
