Does anyone have any tips on how to shoo away the pesteng langaw whenever you are having an afternoon meal or snack in your backyard garden with family and friends? I've tried candles and they somehow work but not totally. Are there anti-langaw plants as well?

I saw this anti-langaw device when I went to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam many years ago:
A clear plastic bag (like a sandwich bag or the plastic bag they pour softdrinks in) filled with water and tied-up hanging from atop like a Xmas lantern (parol). I saw these hanging in the street eateries lined up along the streets of HCM City.
Explanation: The flies are frightened by their own magnified reflections in the water.

flybait is still sold sa hardware sa malls. a canister with rolled paper with glue. somewhat effective.
