Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Alam ko ang Neem Tree ay anti-mosquito. Napanood ko sa TV na considered miracle plant ito sa India.

Some anti-mosquito plants that I saw at Manila Seedling Foundation:

1. Rosemary
2. Chamomile
3. Citriodora
4. True Lavender (but I think it's a bit difficult to grow these things)

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

bro, it's at the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue. pero ang entrance eh dun sa likod, sa may Agham Rd., halos tapat ng Phil. Science H.S. Open sila ng Mondays to Sundays.

If you would like, you can try dun sa Sunday market dun sa grounds ng Lung Center malapit sa Q.C. Memorial Circle. Dami rin sila benta plans dun. Dun ako nakabili ng Chamomile several months ago.

Yes, citronella is also a mosquito repelling plant.

Yung sa Manila Seedling Bank Foundation, walang isang telephone number lang kasi yung lugar is composed of different flower/plant shops. Based on my experience sa pagtawag sa kanila (the foundation itself), mas mabuti na to pay the place a visit na lang to look around. Ito din kase ang ia-advice nung makakausap nyo sa phone.

Bili ko I think was around 300-320 per pot. As far as effectiveness goes, IMO eh oo. Madaling alagaan? Yep.

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Yung chamomile plant dun sa loob ng maliit kong house (around 90sqm) is enough to reduce the number of mosquitoes flying around. Yung sa garden ng nanay ko, marami syang chamomile at citriadora so pag nag-stay kami dun during late afternoons when we visit, halos walang lamok.

However, I don't guarantee anything. What works for us might not work for other folk pero based on experience ko, effective sya.

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Mosquitoes hate the smell of citronella.
I just buy citronella extract and just heat
it on a poutpourri burner. The smell is enough
to fill the house and drive away mosquitoes.

yep! meron din ako nyan sa room ko..
pero meron parin lamok eh hehe...

yes it reduces, but not totally drive them all away.. >:(

now im using a bug zapper. its expensive but does the job..
the problem now is, the zaping sound everytime it zaps a mosquito.
it zaps the sh*t out of me. hehe

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Citronella, also known as Lemongrass, in the Philippines, it is commonly known as the lowly Tanglad. The same herb they use on your lechon manok or baboy.

The mosquito/bug zapper is an effective way of controlling mosquitos in the house. The UV lamp only consumes 9W, I've been using one for over 4 years now and I've only replaced the lamp twice. And I have it running at least 14hours a day everyday. It not just controls mosquitoes but other insect pests like flies those flying ants. Just be sure to clean the collector pan at least every other day.

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Great info guys. I think we have a lemon grass plant but it is rather far from our townhouse.
