Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

The tanglad or lemongrass looks just like your regular talahib, But crush the leaves, and it has a delicious lemony odor.

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Is that true?

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Anybody has tried a mosquito trap?

It's just a mix of water, brown sugar and yeast.

1. Cut a plastic bottle in half, keep both parts. Can be Coca Cola / Pepsi bottle.
2. Take the lower portion of the bottle. Dissolve the brown sugar in hot water. Let it cool down to ~70 degF.
3. Add the yeast. Carbon dioxide will form (This will attract the mosquitos)
4. Cover the bottle with a dark wrap and place the top portion upside down like a funnel. Place it in a corner in your house.
5. In 2 weeks you will be surprised by the number of mosquitos killed.

Somenone sent me an email regarding this but I still have to try it to prove if it really works. It seems logical, though

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

Planting Neem, Citronella, etc. will not drive away mosquitos. For them to take effect, you have to extract the oil from the plants first, and use that oil as the repellant. Problem is, it's not easy to extract the oil, so you're probably better off just buying the oil than the plant.

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

is there such a thing? where can i buy it and how much?

para natural solution sa pesteng mosquitos that can cause denge n the like

I hope the reaction I will post will reach junn2006 since his last post was 08-2007.

Here in my place I have some NEEM trees planted around the property. Yes I do believe this tree is one natural solution para sa pesteng mga mosquitos. Aside for being an anti mosquito plant
I have discovered from research through the internet that its leaves, twigs,, barks and roots can be used as natural medicines for emergency cases.8)

Also in addition a full grown mature neem tree, if you've got lots of them in your property can also be a good source of "good lumber" for constructions and also for fire wood.

But going back to the " natural solution for pesteng lamok ", one can gather the leaves of this tree fresh or dried up, put them in small containers and place them in corners of your house or put them in flat plate and place them under your beds. This is what we do and
found it very effective.

If you are interested I can give you a seedling or two for free. Just inform me through the
threads on your anti mosquito plant topic.;)

Re: Anti Mosquito Plant??

I heard an interesting tale abou the Neem tree. If a pregnant woman smelled the smoke of burning Neem leaves, it may cause the miscarriage of the baby.

Could be old wives tale though.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
