Don't worry too much rosy. I believe the other guys do understand and know what you really meant. Besides, it is still related in a way to the topic in a level that is still way acceptable since we have woodworking guys.

So in my point of view, there is nothing to worry about. Everything is fine.

That's too bad... Our Lemon grass also withered, guess you're right, it can't handle the heat.

ByTheWay... Scents from the Neem tree...is it something like the citronella grass??

I am a newcomer to this forum and I want to contribute my two cents, if I may. First ,I think tanglad or lemon grass is different from citronella although they almost look the same. Second, there is a plant called Malvarosa that they say also drives away mosquitoes. It grows to height of only about 2 to 3 feet and can be grown in a pot and can easily be propagated thru cuttings. They are available at Green 2000 shop within the Manila Seedlings Bank compound. They are sold at 3 small pots @P100 and 3 medium pots @ P200.and are very easy to grow. They also sell all kinds of herbs, gardening tools and other gardening needs.

As for plants/herbs, one good source is the Sidcor Sunday Market at Eton-Edsa/Quezon Avenue. Plants are priced reasonably. I used to buy at the Green 2000 before, but find them pricey and the quality is not so good. I think they are doing good business though, they are selling the plants even if they still look unstable. 30 pesos is cheap, but its just a couple of stems.

Citronella, also known as Lemongrass, in the Philippines, it is commonly known as the lowly Tanglad. The same herb they use on your lechon manok or baboy.

The mosquito/bug zapper is an effective way of controlling mosquitos in the house. The UV lamp only consumes 9W, I've been using one for over 4 years now and I've only replaced the lamp twice. And I have it running at least 14hours a day everyday. It not just controls mosquitoes but other insect pests like flies those flying ants. Just be sure to clean the collector pan at least every other day.

CYMBOPOGON po ang Lemongrass o Tanglad, ibang iba po ang CITRONELLA.

baka po CITROSA (Pelargonium Graveolens)ang ibig nyo sabihin sa pangontra sa lamok. Sa iba naman ang tawag ay Citrosa Geranium.

ive tried them all... its not really that effective... the mosquitoes will avoid these plants and they go to the nearest person instead... unless maybe hugging a repellant plant at night would be effective 🙂

I went to a resort in bohol last year and they have lemongrass planted all over the resort. As in they already look like a lemongrass plantation. There were no mosquitoes there. I think for lemongrass to be effective, you need a lot of them. 🙂

Yes bro nap, the lemon grass or tanglad has also been suggested or mentioned on page 2 and 3 of this thread. Thanks for the info, so one will need lots and lots of this lemon grass planted around a property 😀 to make it effective against these pesky mosquitoes. 😡

any treatment for mosquitoes that love moist soil? this is a problem in my garden. binabahayan ng mosquito yun soil na moist. is there anything that i can safely spray onto the plant and soil to kill the mosquitoes?

Bro you could probably spray some water based anti mosquito killer or repellent on your lawn twice a month, whether for blue grass or carabao grass. 😉
